Type of lesson: Revision & consolidation

Topic / Theme: travelling / science fiction

Lesson focus: integrated skills: Reading –Speaking - Listening - Writing

Main aims: The students will be able to: Get the general meaning from a spoken & written text Read correctly, fluently, expressively Recognize / revise structures: past tense regular and irregular verbs, adjectives, the Comparison of the adjectives

Subsidiary : To provide Ss with enough opportunities to re-discover literature for children and stir their interest in finding out more about the topic, using the modern means provided by the latest technology

Personal aims : T – to act more as a facilitator and a monitor, to reduce echoing, to give clear instructions and have good time management, to open Ss perspective on a proper use of using media in learning.

Assumptions: Ss are interested in new vocabulary and they like learning being introduced to new lexis in a different, attractive manner. I assume they will enjoy the topic of the lesson and will manifest interest in literature as an alternative of spending their free time.

Anticipated problems and solutions:

Some Ss might not be familiar with many of the words mentioned in the lesson and might find it difficult to understand their meaning.Solution: I will use a varied and involving way of presenting vocabulary with the help of photos and dictionary entries.Many of the Ss might struggle with the pronunciation of certain words mentioned in the lesson: “Jules Verne”, “scientist”, “leagues”. Solution: I will drill the pronunciation of challenging words and make sure they are used multiple times throughout the lesson.

Specific aims : informative: - new vocabulary acquisition – fairy tales formative: - get confidence in using structures

- integrated skills educational: - love and interest for reading

Procedure : the students will be able to: use past simple in a different, integrated context listen to /read a story and solve given tasks (match, fill in the gaps, answer the questions) write a short paragraph read and find required information deal with predicative and attributive adjectives

Find in the text 3 regular verbs; read them Circle in the text the past tense for ride, see, blow, put, fly (each team has to spot a verb and read the sentence while someone else goes to the BB

and writes the 3 forms of it – use the diskettes) On the BB – stick the sentences and the students are going to fill in the right verb in the past tense
