ISO55000 defines ‘assets’ as,“An item, thing or entity that has potential or actual value to an organization”.
It may be tangible like rails and trains or intangible like IP and corporate reputation.
The ISO55k Standards are recognized globally.
They define Asset Management (AM) as, “...the utilization of assets to best meet short and long term organizational objectives”.
They also define it’s terms, principles and competences andsets the stage for learning that empowers the uptake of AM.
