26 July 1856- 2 November 1950. Born in Dublin, Ireland. His father is a grain merchant and a civil servant. His mother is a professional singer. He has got two sisters. Education: Wesley Colleague Grammar School and
Dublin English Scientific and Commercial Day School. He works as a clerk at the age of 16 He goes to London at the age of 20 He becomes a member of Fabian Society. (a middle
class socialist group) He marries Charlotte Payne-Townshend in 1898. No
children. He has other relationships but never divorces.

relationships. He writes about progressive arts, literature
and politics. He works as an art and literature critic. He writes experimental theatre specializing in
new and progressive drama He is very active in the Fabian Society, in city
government (as a vestryman for the London borough of St. Pancras), and in committees dedicated to ending dramatic censorship and to establishing a subsidized National Theatre.
It tells the story of Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics.
Higgins makes a bet with his friend Colonel Pickering that he can take a Cockney flower
girl, Eliza Doolittle, to a rich actor’s party and pass her off as a refined society lady.
Higgins teaches her how to speak with an upper class accent and trains her in etiquette.
Eliza wants to sing in a musical and after his teaching, she is very successful.
Higgins wins the bet. But what happens to Eliza?
