What is Ramadan?

• The Ninth month of the Islamic Calendar

• A month of fasting for Muslims

• Its first 10 days are Mercy, next 10 Forgivness & last 10 freedom from Hellfire.

• Shaytaan is chained in this month & gates of paradise open

• Good deeds have 10 or 70x more reward in this month!

• In it there is a special night better than 1000 months!!

Ramadan around the World…

• Ramadan is a fun time in which not only families get together but Muslims around the World come together to pray together, eat together & increase in good deeds!

What is fasting? Adult Muslims & older children have to fast! It is

Fardh like Namaaz We make the intention to fast then don’t eat

from early Dawn till sunset Allaah has saved an extra special reward for the

fasting person! Fasting is not only about staying away from food

rather all bad deeds, its like a special training for our soul

While we fast we also learn to be grateful for our blessings

The Arabic word for fasting is Sawm

Allaah Almighty has told us in the Quran that He has made fasting important so that we can learn to control ourselves and fear Him. This is called Taqwa.

This month is so special there is a special kind of Namaaz we pray only in Ramadan and this is called Taraweeh. This is 20 units and is prayed in mosque or at home for some.

Laylah Tul Qadr

A very special night is gifted to us in this month and this is called Laylah Tul Qadr. It is so special there is a whole Surah about it called Surah Qadr. Do you know this Surah with meaning?

This night is so powerful that worshipping in this night is better than worshipping a thousand months, that’s 83 years! This night is found in the last 10 nights, it can be any night and different every year. Lets learn a special Duaa.

Eid ul Fitr!

Then after all that hard work we have a special celebration, do you know what this is? Of course you do, its Eid! This one is Eid ul Fitr.
