Lithuania

Do you know, that:

• The capital of Lithuania – Vilnius – is the most central city in Europe

• Population of Lithuania is just 3 500 000• Lithuanians are a beer loving nation• State language is lithuanian (thank you –

ačiū, hello - labas)• Climate is between maritime and continental

(in January average temperature -5°C and +25°C in July)

• The currency is Litas (Lt) – 1€ is 3.45Lt so everything is very cheap for foreigners

We are so proud of our nature, history, language and… basketball (Lithuanian National basketball team was the

biggest surprise at the Olympics 2004)

BORDERSLithuania borders Latvia in the north, in the east and south –Belarus, in the south-west –Poland and the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. We have Baltic Sea in the west with very nice beach.

LANDSCAPEThe country has a diverse landscape – 70% plains and hilly uplands, and 30% forests. The highest point is 293.6m above sea level. There are over 4 000 lakes and 722 rivers.

PeopleLithuanians are considered to be shy people… if you compliment a Lithuanian women’s dress, she most probably will say that the dress is old or similar. Or if you say ačiū “thank you” to somebody, his/her answer most probably will be - nėra už ką -“not at all”

Foreigners say about us:•Lithuanian beer is so good and cheap

•Lithuanian girls are very beautiful

•Basketball and beer is one of most important things to Lithuanian man

•Feature of Lithuanian people is that if you offer them something to drink or eat, they will most probably say – ne-“no”, but it is just trying to be polite

So if someone says do not go to Lithuania, you’d better come
