Let’s Start with…Common & Proper Nouns.

What is the difference, kids?

That’s right! A common

noun names anything

that is not specific.

Therefore, it does not

have a capital letter.

And a proper noun is something

specific, so it does require a capital

letter!

1. Each day huge crowds visit the Lincoln Memorial, which is in Washington, D.C.

2. The memorial is in a beautiful setting not far from two other presidential monuments and the capitol.
