started ve years ago. To me,the fun of salsa is all about act and
react. As a leader, you give direction up front, provide strong
support, and clear space for your follower to shineAs a follower, you
listen to the leader's body language, response spontaneously without
anticipation, and express yourself in return toA the leader's
movement. The magic power to connect with others without saying a
word attracted me,and I fell in love with it ever since! I '

same passion for salsa, together we traveled to salsa festivals
across Asia and performed in Taiwan and China. The prospering salsa
community in other countries aspired us to promote salsa dancing in
Taiwan. Two years later,we founded Taiwan Dance Island Salsa Dance
Group,an amateur salsa dance group.Since then it became my second
family! As a member of the dance group management team,we hosted
various workshops with international instructors to draw young
adults to join and enjoy the energetic salsa culture.

make physical contact with others asthere was no one else at her
age.l It reminded me of how timid I was when Ifirst stepped into
the salsaI I class.I Salsa in Cuba is actually a natural I .A way
for people of all ages to ': express their feelings. So I
wondered, why not draw a wider range of people to enjoy salsa and
;foster social bonding? I The idea triggered us to start a l salsa
class tailored for mature adult.
5. During the first class,I found out * elder students were
more uncomfortable to make physical contact with others. To ease
their nerve, instead of jumping into regular salsa moves,l Cguided
students to build bodyAalignment and shared salsa musicto help them
relax.i By the time we completed the first l-* block,we began to
see bright smiles within the class! Many of the students showed
even greater passion than students inour regular class not only
because salsa dancing improved their physical status, but they found
themselves started enjoying the joy~ dancing with others! 3 fl. '

The experience to go beyond self-fulfillment and help others grow
social confidence through salsa was invaluable. Salsa not only
inspired my passion for dancing, but empowered me to influence
others with the positive vibe, just as what Agnes De Mille, one of
