I sincerely hope that all of our Members had a happy and healthy Holiday season. We look forward to 2014 for peace and prosperity for all of our Members and hope that at least some of our financial concerns will be alleviated. The nation’s unemployment rate continues to decline and home values continue to creep upward. Those factors usually mean that interest rates will also start to climb and although there has been a slight increase, they still remain historically low. That bodes well for members who are in the market to borrow, but continues to be discouraging for those on fixed incomes who rely on interest and dividends to supplement their earnings. To ease some of the financial pain that goes hand-in-hand with the Holidays, PAC Federal Credit Union is once again offering a special for borrowers this year. We’ve lowered the rates (Annual Percentage Rate) on personal loans and our mortgage rates have not changed. Our Credit Union has had another successful year. Our financial results have exceeded both our goals for 2013 as well as our results from the prior year. We start this year with an optimism that we haven’t seen in about four or five years, as a certain stability has calmed the financial markets. We’ve had some challenging years in 2009, 2010, and 2011 but that all appears to be behind us now. We look forward to 2014 with renewed excitement about our prospects for the future and for those of our members as well. PAC FCU continues to monitor the recent Target data compromise. Recently, there have been phishing emails related to the Target breach. The emails look like they are from Target and play on the fears of the public that they may have had their card compromised. As a precaution, we want to notify our members of this potential threat and advise you to proceed with caution if you receive an e-mail from Target. Please DO NOT OPEN any links that may be included in these emails as that could potentially allow additional access to your personal information. Target will post information related to the breach and the phishing emails on this website: https://corporate.target. com/about/payment-card-issue.aspx?ref=sr_shorturl_paymentcardresponse.
