Letter from the Supreme Ruler (Godol)
Dearest manly men,
First and foremost, it has truly been an honor to serve as your Supreme Ruler so far. We
are about halfway through the programming year and we have already accomplished so
many feats and created so many new memories together. At Tournies, we brought on the
spirit* and hosted a record number of 336 teens!** We also had great chapter programs
like our corn maze event and our global shabbat event, where we heard from a
Holocaust survivor who shared his story with us and ended up being Maddie’s long lost
relative or something like that. And of course, we can’t forget about our annual
Latkefest program, which was a huge success this year! We had a memorable havdallah
service, amazing programs designed and executed by our chapter members, Zevy ate 19
latkes in 5 minutes, and Stevie shaved Jeremy’s hair. I can’t wait for all the good times
to come in these next couple months, as we have some great programs lined up for you.
“Brrr!” -Gucci Mane
Sincerely,
Your Damn Proud 89th Supreme Ruler,
Hallel Cheskis
*we deserved to win the spirit stick, but the judges were biased **we deserved to win 1st place in song and dance, our performance was so much better than Allentown’s
Letter from the Sopher
What’s good homies,
These last few months have been incredibly busy and incredibly awesome! Tournies was
one of my favorite conventions that I have ever attended, and I hope you all had a
fantastic time. Latkefest was a blast as well (sorry for spilling apple sauce), and I’m
really looking forward to the upcoming chapter events. Be sure to check the website
often, because the calendar is always being updated, there new polls, and plenty of other
goodies for you guys. I hope you truly enjoy this issue of The Meatball.
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood Sopher (and professional meme thief)

Tournies 2016 Recap
by Will Chaddock
For the second year in a row, Tournies was held right here at the Harrisburg JCC.
Over the course of the weekend, Alephs and BBGs participated in a wide variety of
competitive events, ranging from basketball to backgammon. This year of Tournies was
my favorite of the past three years, and even though there was no frisbee, everyone I
know was able to find something to enjoy.
In the large chapter category, Allentown did not win for the first time in eight years;
truly a historic moment. While Harrisburg was not able to win (Yitzhak took first place),
we had our best performance in the past several years, coming reportedly one point short
of Allentown.
The Harrisburg community worked together to host approximately 320 Jewish
teens in the city for the convention. The fact that our community is relied on to host
Tournies can be considered a sign of the strength of the Jewish community here, one of
my personal favorite parts of living in Harrisburg. Hopefully we will continue to be able
hosting Tournies, and be able to prove the strength of our community to the region.
While I was not able to record every person who won events, Harrisburg teens had
remarkable success, and we placed in a majority of the events, most notably tying
Allentown for first place in Song and Dance for the second time in three years.
Hopefully, we will continue to improve, and place in the top 2 next year.
No matter what your talents are, Tournies is a great opportunity, not only to
compete, but to be together with friends from across Liberty Region. I would highly
recommend attending Tournies to anyone who was not able to participate. I look
forward to next years convention, and I hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Closing Time
By Eli Spotts
My expectations, as well as the
expectations of many others, were set
high for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Needless to say, the film was
everything a Star Wars fan like me
could hope for a movie that really
wasn’t even an official episode. It was
a story made for fans. Luckily, I’m a
fan! It fed my love for Star Wars with
plenty of small easter eggs throughout.
Not to mention the fact that the
storyline was amazing and probably
written by a team of creative prodigies.
However not all people share my love
for the wondrous series of movies that is Star Wars. Rogue One: A Star
Wars Story is not a “Star Wars Story” for someone who isn’t enthusiastic
about the series. I can 100% see why some people might get bored during
the film because it leaves non-fans wondering why every other person in
theater’s eyes are glued to the screen. But as I said before, I truly am I fan of
Star Wars and I am definitely impressed with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
