August 20, 2015 Dear Parents/Guardians, I hope you all had a great summer! My name is Ms. Dobey and I will be a student-teacher in Mrs. Akason’s class. I am an Elementary Education major at Drake University and I will be graduating this upcoming December. I am from a suburb of Denver, Colorado but have quickly made Des Moines my second home. Coming from the mountains I love to spend my time hiking, skiing, and running. I also enjoy hanging out with my two young nieces, Maggie (6) and Penny (2). They are a big reason why I have pursued teaching as a career choice (they are in my photo along with my older sister, Allison ). I cannot wait to get started and feel that there is no better place to have my student teaching placement at. There are many things I appreciate about this school including the parental support, the exceptional leadership, the high-caliber of the teachers, and the Brookview community as a whole.
