Greenville County installed propane fueling stations at three county fueling sites. Propane costs $1.00 per gallon less than
unleaded fuel and has better engine lubrication qualities, which, in the end, results in less vehicle maintenance. The County projected fuel cost savings for 100 sheriff vehicles utilizing
propane is $125,000 annually.

Public safety is and always has been a top priority for Greenville County. Emergency medical care, law enforcement and inmate
detention are the core of what we do. An emphasis on these essential services is clear at all levels. Public Safety elements make up more
than 48% of the County’s budget, and even during difficult economic times, these departments are budgeted to continue to add
necessary staff. Our commitment to providing citizens these services goes beyond dollar figures and staff size. It is about talented and
dedicated members of a team who take great pride in delivering vital services to a public that has come to expect the very best.
Greenville County has an aggressive E-waste recycling program. E-waste trucks are located at convenience centers in all geographic areas of the county, making disposal more convenient and
environmentally sound.
