Dear Sir

For your very friendly letter & the delicate manner

of communicating it, I cannot express all my grateful feelings,

they are sincere & will be lasting.

You may rest assured that hereafter there shall never

be any real foundation for imputations of the kind alluded to.

I hope to be able & allowed to continue my services

in the Clerk's office & to perform all of them as I have always endeavored

to do, with correctness & courtesy.
