This qualification is aimed at those who wish to become a Paediatric First Aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in industry and is approved by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) What will they learn? Learners gaining this qualification will know that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Its topic are regarded by the Early Years Foundation Stage as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel. Course Content • The Role and Responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider • Scene Survey and Primary Survey on Infants and Children • Managing an Unresponsive Casualty • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (child and infant) • Choking • Shock including Anaphylactic Shock • Bleeding (severe and minor) • Treatment of Seizures • Use of Automated External Defibrillator Course duration 6 hours in total Assessment Continuous assessment during the course. Assessment on practical abilities of dealing with casualties, written exam; must show competence to apply learned skills prompt, safe and effective. Certificate and Validity Paediatric First Aid from DCAS and Level 2 International Award in Paediatric First Aid from HABC, valid for 3 years Entry requirement Participants should have Basic English skills
