Ordering Kits
Please note that all Colleges will be ordering their kits at the same time. This is a very busy time for suppliers and can sometimes cause delays in receiving items. It is important that you order your kit and uniform promptly as soon as you receive your order form. This will ensure that you have the correct equipment and uniform at the start of your course.
Failure to do so will hinder your progress
If you decide not to purchase the uniform, we ask that you wear sensible, professional clothing. For example:
• Smart plain black trousers ( No jeans, leggings, jeggings)• Smart plain black top (No cropped/ low cut tops)• Black leather closed in shoes
Please note: Failure to have ordered your full kit by the second week of your course without evidence or receipt, could result in withdrawing you from the course.
Replenishing Your Kit
Parts of your kit will last you well into your professional career if you look after them. Whilst we make every effort to ensure the products in your kits will last for the duration of your course, we have to keep the cost down and ensure the products are not to heavy for you to transport. You may find that products you are using on a daily basis will need replenishing before you complete your course.
Note - Your kit is not for personal use, it for use when at college and for practise on clients at home. If you run out of a product or lose anything in your kit it is up to you to replace it, NOT THE COLLEGE. The products must be replaced from the supplier you purchase your kit from.
Your kit needs to be with you at all times. You cannot complete what is required of you without your kit. Failure to bring your kit could result in disciplinary action.
On receipt of your kit
It is up to you to check that your kit has everything in as specified on the kit listings within this booklet. Our suppliers carry out quality checks on every kit that is dispatched but sometimes they might miss something. Keep this booklet safe so you can tick off every item that you have and highlight any issues with your supplier. The college cannot chase up missing items for you as you pay the supplier directly. Don’t leave it too long if you have an issue, some items are ordered in especially for you and may go out of stock after September.
Uniform returns or exchange
If you are not happy with the fit of the uniform you can contact Salonwear directly and arrange to send back your items and swap them for a different size but you will need to cover the cost of postage. Please note that the signature trousers come in one length, you then have to adjust them accordingly by taking the hem up. Salonwear provide ‘wonderweb’ that can be easily cut to size and then ironed over fusing the hem together. Clogs are non returnable/exchangeable or refundable
Labelling your kit
Your kit MUST be clearly labelled with your name where possible. Metal tools and implements need to be sterilised or sanitised so be aware that any stickers will come off. The best way to label these items is using nail polish, dot them with different colours. Products can be stickered with your name but keep the labels neat, tidy and small as possible. Try to place the label on the base of the product.
Cleaning your kit
Your kit needs to be kept clean and tidy. You will have access to sterilisation and sanitation methods here at college. You will need to wipe over products to keep them free of product residue on a regular basis. Clean nail polishes with nail polish remover to clean any residue which will ensure that they are airtight when sealed. This will make the product last longer. Always ensure you tighten lids after use on products to aviod leakage in transit.

Please be aware that bursaries do not cover childcare for all these hours
2. You are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours external work experience. It is your responsibility to find your placement (we can support you with this). These hours will be in addition to your timetabled core hours. Please be aware that bursaries do not cover childcare for all these hours

These additional hours will be discussed and timetabled with you during induction week to enable you to plan around work/childcare etc. Please be aware that bursaries do not cover childcare for all these hours
4. If you are under 18, you will be expected to complete your all of your timetabledprogramme of study hours including Mathematics and English. If your attendance drops under 95% in any area, you will be at risk of losing your place on the course.
5. All students will be on a 6 week review period to ensure your suitability for the course.During this period, you will have the opportunity to transfer to a different course or level if you or we felt that your current choice was not suitable.
6. All of our courses have a strict kit/uniform policy to ensure that you are presentingprofessional standards at all times. We would expect compliant and professional behaviour at all times in and around the college premises.
7. Hair must be tied back completely back off the face and worn in a bun for all BEAUTY
and MAKEUP courses. Refer to previous page for instructions on how to achieve this.
8. We expect students to show some flexibility. Whilst we always endeavour to plan inadvance, there are some occasions where there may be changes to your timetabled hours. This will be to accomodate such events as product training, trips, guest speakers, competitions, exams etc. All of which enhance your learning journey. Please be aware that bursaries do not cover childcare for all these events/hours
9. Please be aware that in order for you to meet the courses study requirements, you will need tocommit and additional 5-15 hours self directed theory and practical study per week.
10. Exam dates are NON-NEGOTIABLE and must be attended, or you will be at risk of failing tocomplete your qualification.
11. All students must be willing to work on each other prior to working on real clients (unless you arecontra-indicated or have a medical reason).
If you have any queries or concerns regarding any of the content in this booklet, do not hesitate to contact a member of our team to discuss these issues.
