What does the course involve?This course carries a total of 18 credits at Level 3 and comprises of 5 teaching units. • Unit 1 – Forest School programme and the woodland environment • Unit 2 – Practical skills for a Forest School Programme • Unit 3 – Learning and development of a Forest School Programme • Unit 4 – Planning a Forest School Programme • Unit 5 – Delivery of a Forest School Programme

Who is it designed for?The Forest Schools Practitioner Open Award Level 3 course is aimed at professionals with a relevant level 2 or above qualifi cation – for example teachers, LSA’s, youth workers, Early Years Practitioners, countryside rangers. You must have at least 2 years’ experience of working directly with children and young people. You also need a current DBS check; you will be required to bring your original copy when you register.

How is the course delivered? Initial delivery is over 5 consecutive days; you will be expected to submit a completed log – book to support your own Forest School practice. A key element of the course is the delivery of 6 Forest School sessions with a group of children or young people in an appropriate setting. You will build a portfolio which will include evidence of planning, evaluation and refl ection from your course. In addition to this students will need to commit to additional self-directed learning.

An additional consecutive 4 days of assessment and development is required to complete the course to show competency of skills developed, you have a maximum of 12 months to achieve this.

Who will deliver the course?Our Forest School practitioner Nina Garner will deliver the course; Nina has extensive experience of delivering Forest School sessions to children and young people and delivers almost every day. Nina has been involved in the Forest School since its conception and is widely known in schools in the area for her knowledge and commitment to learning outdoors.

How will we support you during your training? • You will receive one free CPD day for

either week you sign up to, additional CPD days can be added for £20

• If you need a placement we can arrange this for you

• You will receive regular tutorials as required via telephone/Skype

How much does it cost?The Forest School Practitioner Level 3 course is £699We strongly advise all students to complete a relevant First Aid course prior to working outdoors with children. Doncaster College can o� er a 1 day First Aid course linked to the outdoors for £99
