Q Grade score Annotation

1 A3 The candidate identifies some aspects of the geography of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but does not demonstrate a detailed application of the skills in part (a). Some use of detail to support the extent is included. The candidate has not correctly identified a cultural process to analyse, but has understood the causes. There is a lack of detail in the answer, as they have used one source predominantly for their responses to parts (b) and (c).

2 A3 The candidate correctly identifies and explains the social, economic, and environmental consequences, but there is a lack of detail in two out of the three responses to part (a). Sustainability has been understood and applied to the consequences of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but the answer lacks detailed explanation.

3 A3 The candidate provides some evaluation of the solutions, but not a lot of supporting detail, or specifics from the resources. The conclusion is clear. Sustainability as a concept is referred to in the response, and applied correctly to the question. A lack of detail restricts the candidate to an Achievement grade.
