The star-nosed mole is from the USA andCanada. It is blind but it uses its nose to look for

food. It is a carnivore and spends a lot oftime underwater looking for prey. The

star-nosed mole can smellunderwater and it can

find food faster thanany other mammal

in the world!

The saiga is a type of antelope found in Russia and Kazakhstan. It is an endangered species because it is hunted and killed for itshorns. During the summer, the saiga’s nose acts as a filter for dustand it also cools down its blood. In the winter, the saiga’s nose heatsup the cold air before it goesinto its lungs. The saiga is aherbivore and eats manydifferent kinds of plants, including some that arepoisonous to otheranimals!

There, for the next five hundred years, thephoenix sang its songs to the Sun.But, by then, the magnificent bird wasgrowing old. It could not fly as highor as fast as when it was young. One day, it cried out to the Sun,“Wonderful Sun! Please make meyoung and strong again!” But theSun did not hear the phoenix. Thephoenix decided to go back towhere it once lived. It flew across thedesert and over the mountains. Thepoor bird was weak and had to rest a lot. Each time it landed, it collected herbs and spices.
