PRESIDENTS REPORT
NOVEMBER 2011
Hello everyone,
After the Te Awanga rally Ivy and I went on to Taupo and met up
with Shirley and Allan Jones and experienced our first go at
freedom camping.
We camped at Lake Rerewhakaaitu for a few days, 1 night at the
Waikite hot pools from there to the Matata DOC camp, POP on
Pyes Pa Rd Tauranga, and the Glenview Club in Hamilton. We
parted company in Tauranga and Shirley and Allan went back to
the lake for a few more days trout fishing.
We were away 14 days and 11 of those we freedom camped.
After our second day the gas hot water packed up. We learned a
lot from Shirley and Allan and felt very proud of ourselves for
persevering without hot water.
It’s that time of the year again when the Christmas festivities are
upon us. No doubt you’ll be planning for your trips away next
year. The caravan club rally schedule for 2012 will be done in
time for the Christmas rally.
Ivy and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas filled with
happiness and good cheer and the best of everything for 2012.
See you at the Christmas rally.
Regards George.

EKETAHUNA RALLY REPORT
Present ; Craigs, Bowkers, Hills, Greigs, O'Learys V & B, Webbs, & O'Learys K & E. Bowkers, Hills, Greigs and O'Learys V & B arrived on the Thursday to set up camp and were there to welcome the remainder of us on Friday. The camp is situated in a Dell beside the Makakahi River with high trees on all sides, the trees provide shelter but they made it difficult for some to get TV Reception. Plastic was stapled/nailed around the walls of the facilities block and this provided us with a reasonably comfortable area for "Happy Hour" and the meal on Friday night. The Camp Manager was very helpful in providing pamphlets and a list of things to do around Eketahuna, as a result a number of the group went for a walk along Cliff Walk and up to the town - a visit to "Joys Dolls and Garden" proved popular with the girls - 3 of the guys enjoyed 9 holes of golf on the Saturday. Perhaps a highlight of the weekend was the visit to the Eketahuna Club where we held happy hour, played snooker/pool and had a very enjoyable roast meal. Sunday dawned fine a sunny which enabled us to have morning tea under the sun - Bev Craig was presented with the wooden spoon for running short of refreshments at happy hour but she returned to the session with 3 cans of beer and a bottle of wine under her arm. Trevor received the fork for a "peeping" episode and for being seen to attempt to drive away in Brian and Val's motor home. Bev and John won the raffle and Val and Brian the "Lucky Van". Thanks to everyone for the support over the weekend. Eleanor and Kevin

LEXOPHILES (LOVERS OF WORDS) A bicycle can’t stand alone, it is two tired. A will is a dead giveaway. Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. A backward poet writes inverse. In a democracy it’s your vote that counts, in feudalism, it’s your Count that votes. A chicken crossing the road, poultry in motion.
