The California Gold Rush
They went to where California is now because they wanted a better life and sometimes home. They also they wanted to be rich with gold.
Gold is mostly what they wanted from 1848 -1850. Most men preferred not to take their families with them.
Why they went
Where they mined? At mining camps
Some people paid more money to get to California than when they were there.

Mostly men went gold mining Men often didn’t want to take their families
because they wanted to keep all the gold.
