Geldof signs to Intersong &Bob Geldof, who once fronted The Boom-town Rats and more recently organized theBand Aid/Live Aid relief efforts, was inToronto this past week to drum up supportfor his latest release - a solo album titled DeepIn The Heart Of Nowhere, "which," he says,"gives a sense of being lost but it's not whatthe album is about."

At a press conference, held while Geldofwas in Toronto, the singer alluded thatalthough grateful to be once again nominatedfor a Nobel Peace Prize, he was indeed"relieved to be back making music again. It's

Rhino responding to 'oldieApparently there is gold to be found intoday's "gold" formats. Santa Monica,California, based Rhino Records - who haverecently released their Golden Archive Seriesand The Best Of The Kingsmen - are basicallyresponding to the popularity of the "oldie"format, according to Rhino's AssociateDirector Stan Becker.

"This is an era (of music) that will neverdie," he states, "an era that produced artisticoutput that is still gaining in popularity. Justlook at how many recent hit movies are titledafter and based around the music from thisperiod."

He furthers that as the years pass, "theoriginal rock generations have more of an ap-preciation for the intrinsic honesty of thismusic; and as each new generation discoversitself they too seek out the music's that isunemcumbered and driving."

Hoping to capitalize therefore, Rhinohas released albums from: The Beau Brum-mels, The Spencer Davis Group, The EverlyBrothers, The Bobby Fuller Four, Love, TheStandells, The Turtles and Ritchie Valens; all

releases new solo albumannouncement Freddy Bienstock, the presi-dent of the Chappell and Intersong Group, offers "He is a truly original and gifted artist, and we look forward to a long and successfulrelationship with him."

However, even Geldof admits if thisrecord isn't "a hit" then the record corn-panies involved won't carry through with hisoption. He is signed to the Atlantic label inCanada/U.S. and to Phonogram for the re-mainder of the territories.

He also explained why, in fact, there areno songs about Africa or his efforts there, onhis album. "Because that would be ex-ploitive. I record music not for vanity ormoney but as a form of expression and com-munication . . . and this record would'vebeen made even if it weren't for Band Aid.

Strange Advance beginwork on third albumWith recording expected to be completed inearly February, the Vancouver -based duoStrange Advance have entered the LittleMountain Studios to complete work on their3rd - as yet untitled - album.

The band is now signed to GerryYoung's Current Records, following therelease of World's Away and 2W0 on theCapitol label.

Young says the new album is "an ag-gressive new approach for the band whichcontains more hits than their past two albumscombined." The band's debut was certifiedgold and their follow-up achieved platinumstatus - which earned them a Juno nomina-tion for Group of the Year.

Strange Advance, Drew Arnott and Dar-ryl Kromm, began recording November 18and the new album, informs Young, willfeature such songs as Hold You, Crying InThe Ocean, Endless Nights and Turn Away.A release date has been slated for the springof next year.

goldie' formatsof which comprise the "Archive" series.

As well, following Richard Berry'srecovery of his royalty rights to Louie Louie, the label has released The Best Of TheKingsmen. Also, Becker informs Rhino hasmade available The Best Of Louie Louie, which includes Berry's rendition of the song, the Kingsmen's (12 million selling) 1963 ver-sion, a cover by a punk -rock group and theRice University Marching Band.

"Aside from the excellent songwriting,"concludes Becker, "these recordings repre-sent all of the excitement, innocence andspontaneous passion of a generationdedicated to self discovery and self expres-sion."

Rhino Records have also released theBilly & The Beaters track, At This Moment, which was featured on the NBC series FamilyTies. The song is charting stateside and Mar-tha Hanrahan (of NBC) reports the responsehas been overwhelming. "We've had so muchmore reesponse than the Phil Collins tunerecieved when it was on Miami Vice and thattune went on to the Top 10."

Another oldie ... !Since I mentioned the fact that I've been inthis business for such a long time, peoplehave been informing me that I'm not old atall. It seems there's a 40th anniversary soonto be celebrated. Toronto's HorseshoeTavern will celebrate it's 40th year of opera-tion in December 1987. They are requesting, from across Canada, anyone who has anymemorabilia from its past to contact eitherNorah Gibbs or Carol Marks -George at (416)598-4753.

It's a lot easier ... !I must be out of practice . . . although it's theChristmas season, there's really not a helluvalot happening out there . . . and I've grownaccustomed to just putting my two centsworth in over the past few years. Yet it seemsthings really haven't changed much since theold days. I was reminiscing through some ofthe RPM archives and . . . .

It's interesting to note that ...... with Corey Hart's single I Am By YourSide slipping out of the Top 30 and TheParachute Club's new one just edging in, andThe Partlands not quite there yet . . . well,

" . . . . the prophets of doom, the messengers ofmediocrity, will be overwhelmed by the newgeneration of competent, creative, confidentartisans and by all those of preceding generationswho have already demonstrated their freshness ofmind, their talent and their capacity for inspiredleadership." - Pierre Juneau

when was the last time we had this many Can -con singles bulleting into the Top 30?

. . . of the 21 Cancon singles listed on lastweek's chart only 4 had bullets . . . and 2 werenew entries: Corey Hart and Glass Tiger. ThePartland Brothers and Nancy Martinezscored the others.

. . . at this time 2 years ago, there were only13 Cancon singles charting . . . . In 1976,there were 16, and in 1966 . . . 16 ! ! !

. . . in November 1966, The Monkees' LastTrain To Clarksville was in the top spot.. .

while Gordon Lightfoot's Spin Spin wasbulleting into the Top 10, challenging not on-ly The Monkees but also Herman's Hermits,? & The Mysterions, Count Five, TommyRoe, Johnny Rivers, Eric Burdon, Tempo,Left Banke, Carla Thomas, The Four Topsand The Rolling Stones. . . .

. . . Columbia Records released - in 1966 - atotal of 41 records by Canadian artists . . .

and that includes one from Andre Gagnontoo.

A blast from the past ...I know I'm supposed to take Walt's place, but the similarities in the business today and22 years ago . . . let's go back and see whatWalt was saying back then . . . about gettinga Canadian record off the ground.

. . .the very first Walt Says (in the Sept. 1,1964 issue) asked: "What's wrong with ourrecord industry? Why can't Canadian recordsget off the ground?"

. . .some of the answers to those precedingquestions are still very valid today:

. . ."For instance already on file we havecomplaints against the Musicians Union, ar-tists, groups, the BBG and record companies.Along with these complaints come solutionsto the problems. . . .Record producers have ahabit to yell bloody murder when their firstrecord doesn't make it. We know one in-dependent producer in the U.S. who admitsto bombs amounting to 80 per cent per year, yet he keeps plugging on and on; and when hedoes make a hit you can be sure it's a big one, enough to compensate him for another twodozen flops.

. . ."We receive letters from artists whobelieve they are being cheated out of theirGod given talent because the radio stationswon't play their record. Groups who play toand thrill many audiences can't understandwhy this same ogling public won't supportthem by buying records. There is a reasonand in most cases it's not because the Pro-gram Director is anti -Canadian.

. . ."This is a very fresh and new market forCanadian talent and it is going to take a fewmore years for our industry to come of age.

. . ."It's happening. I've seen examples of italready. One young Canadian producer whotook advantage of the knowledge available inthe U.S., recently amazed a group of musi-cians by producing the American way, that is,having the American sound. I am aware ofyet another producer fairly new on the scenewho is willing to experiment and feels he hasnow come up with the sound everyone islooking for. Time will tell, but if at first youdo not succeed. . . ."

COVER STORY

The Parachute Club -Of the three albums The Parachute Club havereleased, their latest Small Victories is by farthe best - and by January the rest of the worldwill be able to hear it as well. The band'sawards and accolades have been mounting ata pace of increasing frequency since theirDaniel Lanois produced debut, which con-tained Rise Up, and the group's not reallyslowing down to take notice of them either.

This past year, while preparing andrecording the Small Victories material, thevarious bandmembers were working on in-dividual projects. For example: drummer Bil-ly Aryans produced (Juno winner) LillianAllen's Revolutionary Tea Party album andkeyboardist Laurie Conger scored the sound-track for the National Film Board's DarkLullabies feature documentary.

Following their 1984 At The Feet Of TheMoon release, The Parachute Club went onto win a Juno for Group of the Year. Now, acouple of years older - and wiser - the groupfeels prepared to take on the world thatawaits.

"The first album came about because wehad no idea what we were doing at the time,"explains leadvocalist Lorraine Segato. "TheParachute Club was a project that was on thelark.

"Billy and I were interested in a certainkind of music and a certain kind of politic,"she continues. "We were signed to a recordcontract and we had to come up with material. . .and that was really the beginning of TheParachute Club."

Bryans adds that by the time had cometo record their second record, "the noveltyhad worn off." With Michael Beinhorn at thehelm, and although the band was "moreunified", that effort has its "bad parts", ad-mits Bryans but "there is some good materialon that album."

Even though Beinhorn's album surpass-ed platinum in sales, he was not asked tocome back and record Small Victories.Through a series of "happy coincidences andcircumstances," informs Bryans, John Oatesmade himself available and produced 4tracks, as well as sharing the lead vocal on thefirst single, Love Is Fire.

After a few weeks, Small Victories hasalready surpassed the gold plateau, yet LoveIs Fire unfortunately isn't doing as well afterits initial push.

Segato suggests the label asked for"music that could be played on radio. Ithink, in their hearts, they want a hit and tobe honest Parachute Club has been 'this shy'of becoming huge in this country.

"Because our songs have gotten on theradio but they're not No. 1 singles. . . we'vealways gotten in the Top 10 but never No. 1,"she laments. "Not that it really matters to us,but in the scheme of business it's importantfor the record company - and their profile- with the way they perceive their artistsas being successful."

Segato relates the band couldn't bepressured into recording a "commercial"album anyway. "That's not really a demandthey can place on The Parachute Clubbecause if they demanded it we would have

COVER STORY

The Parachute Club -

Of the three albums The Parachute Club have released, their latest Small Victories is by far

the best -

and by January the rest of the world will be able to hear it as well. The band's

awards and accolades have been mounting at a pace of increasing frequency since their

Daniel Lanois produced debut, which con- tained Rise Up, and the group's not really

slowing down to take notice of them either. This past year, while preparing and recording the Small Victories material, the

various bandmembers were working on in- dividual projects. For example: drummer Bil-

ly Bryans produced (Juno winner) Lillian Allen's Revolutionary Tea Party album and

keyboardist Laurie Conger scored the sound- track for the National Film Board's Dark

Lullabies feature documentary. Following their 1984 At The Feet Of The

Moon release, The Parachute Club went on to win a Juno for Group of the Year. Now, a

couple of years older -

and wiser -

the group feels prepared to take on the world that

awaits. "The first album came about because we

had no idea what we were doing at the time," explains leadvocalist Lorraine Segato. "The

Parachute Club was a project that was on the lark.

"Billy and I were interested in a certain kind of music and a certain kind of politic," she continues. "We were signed to a record

contract and we had to come up with material

. . .and that was really the beginning of The

Parachute Club." Bryans adds that by the time had come

to record their second record, "the novelty had worn off." With Michael Beinhorn at the

helm, and although the band was "more unified", that effort has its "bad parts", ad-

mits Bryans but "there is some good material on that album."

Even though Beinhorn's album surpass- ed platinum in sales, he was not asked to

come back and record Small Victories. Through a series of "happy coincidences and

circumstances," informs Bryans, John Oates made himself available and produced 4

tracks, as well as sharing the lead vocal on the first single, Love Is Fire.

After a few weeks, Small Victories has already surpassed the gold plateau, yet Love

Is Fire unfortunately isn't doing as well after its initial push.

Segato suggests the label asked for "music that could be played on radio. I

think, in their hearts, they want a hit and to be honest Parachute Club has been 'this shy' of becoming huge in this country.

"Because our songs have gotten on the radio but they're not No. 1 singles.

. .we've

always gotten in the Top 10 but never No. 1," she laments. "Not that it really matters to us, but in the scheme of business it's important for the record company -

and their profile -

with the way they perceive their artist's -

as being successful." Segato relates the band couldn't be

pressured into recording a "commercial" album anyway. "That's not really a demand

they can place on The Parachute Club because if they demanded it we would have

breaking internationally had to look the other way. We're not

premeditated people. We don't write music for those reasons. We write music because we

want to write good songs. "Of course, in that, we want to hopeful-

ly write good enough songs that are accessible on radio and serve the purpose for other peo- ple as well. But for us it's a process of finding

what is the most important songs for us to be singing or playing at that time."

Both Segato and Bryans affirm Oates participation on the project will benefit their

efforts to break this release in the U.S. "But really," says Segato, "when all is said and

done, John's reputation alone can't make The Parachute Club. Because The Parachute

Club is the one who goes out and works the record and sings live to the people."

While Bryan maintains "If the record is successful, some people are going to say it's

because of John Oates. If it's not successful, it'll be because of John Oates. People are go- ing to find reasons to blame it on him or give

him all the credit. "I'm not worried," he concludes. "This

is our 3rd album and mature to take the opportunities that come our way,

which in this case was to work with a man as gifted as John Oates. And if that helps us be

successful and better at our craft then that's fine. If some people think that's bad.

. .then

that's the risk you take."

It's "time to eat" at Chrysalis by Stephen Tennant - Chrysalis Records

During the artist rebuilding program at Chrysalis N.Y. over the past several years,

the label has developed a feast or famine syn- drome and now

. . . it's time to eat!

We'll start with the hor d'oeuves, just to whet the appetite. World Party is the name of

the new band conceived by Karl Wallinger. Karl is the former Waterboys' keyboardist who also co -wrote, produced and engineered

A Pagan Place. The World Party debut album, Private Revolution, does not sound

like the Waterboys, but compares with the latter group's works in that it melds pas-

sionate, intelligent lyrics with infectious melodies, all wrapped up in a rich textured

production. The track, Ship Of Fools, is already finding support on KIK-FM, LA -107, KX%, KIS-FM, Q-107, CFNY-FM, FM%,

HTZ-FM, Q-104 and the title track has its

own believers, among them CHEZ-FM. Like so many other developing acts,

World Party is competing for radio and retail support with established superstars during

the Christmas rush. World Party's Private Revolution will survive the madness and you

can look for a single release in January on the most obvious Top 40 track, All Come True.

Next, we serve up the sizzling Vinnie Vincent,ex-of Kiss and now on his own, cur-

rently touring with Alice Cooper and soon to be jumping onto the Iron Maiden dates. No

French sauces here, just meat [raw] and potatoes [raw] and rack & roll [raw]. Robert

Fleischman's soaring vocals are a close match for Vinnie's renowned guitar work, as Vin-

cent's debut album, Invasion, assaults your senses.

Canadian tour dates are possible early in

1987. Until then, you'll have to be satisfied with the video of Boyz Are Gonna Rock

featured on Much Music. After Vinnie, you're ready for something to settle your stomach, cool your

palate. So help yourself to the new Ultravo, collection, U -VOX, we're serving this week.

Costord slams U.S. radio syndication programs . . .

by Warren CosfordSpecial ProjectsThe CHUM Group - Toronto

I got a phone call the other day from the Pro-gram Director of a radio station in Florida. They wanted to know if it would be okay tobroadcast CHUM's story of the Beatles.

It's the fifth call of its kind that I'vereceived this year.

The remarkable thing about it is thatthey all want to broadcast a program that issixteen years old.

It reminded me that (once again) Cana-dians have 'dropped the ball'.

Today, most of the programs called"Syndicated Radio Specials" are produced inLos Angeles or New York by companies call-ed Westwood One, United Stations and ofcourse CBS, NBC and ABC.

As little as 10 years ago most "RadioSpecials" were produced by Canadians.

The Story of the Beatles was the first tobe actually syndicated. Kind of. You see, wehad no idea what we were doing. "We" wereJ. Robert Wood, Bill McDonald, DougThompson, Doug Rawlinson and ChuckHanks. The original script had been writtenby Larry Solway. Bill McDonald wasrewriting it. Doug Thompson and I wereproducing, Chuck was narrating, Rawlinsonwas doing a little of everything and BobWood was making us want to do it.

Bob was very good at his job.We had no sooner produced two hours

of it than he put it on the air at an hour perday.

By doing this, Bob was making sure thatwe had a very clear idea as to what ourdeadlines were. Doug and I learned how to be"well rested" on four hours a night.

In 1970 The Production Studios atCHUM were known as The Museums. A of it syndicated throughout the world. Someterm of endearment that referred to the of it even translated into other languages. Once the program was completed,CHUM gave it away to radio all over theworld. I'm told it's one of the reasons whyradio all over the world knows what CHUMis.

and every one of them talked to us.Gordon Stoker of The Jordanaires told

me that we were getting co-operation because"Elvis heard your Beatle program." It wasthe proudest moment of my life.

Today. . .that very same Elvis Presleyprogram is being syndicated throughout theworld by an American company callingthemselves The Programming Consultants. They now call the program The PresleyYears.

Since then I've worked with some verytalented Canadians producing The Evolutionof Rock, The Producers, Superstar Count-down, Supertramp: Self Portrait and hoursand hours of The Top 100 Of The Year. Most

New single for Cameron comes on db record labelToronto -based singer -songwriter DougCameron, the guitarist who made his markwith the controversial single and LP of themine name called Mona With The Children, has just released his long-awaited new single,One Moment Of Love.

With the True North label now solelyconcentrating on Bruce Cockburn,Cameron's new single comes on the labelheaded by producer Jack Lenz called db,which also cover the music publishing com-pany Don't Blink Music.

Lenz produced the new single with co-production by Cameron. One Moment OfLove is also being backed by a video produc-ed by Lenz and Marc Jacomelli.

Cameron, who recently completed amonth of dates, says he may embark on apromo tour to back the single. He hopes tohave his next album - yet untitled - out in themarket enmptime in Fehninrit

"The material I've been working on ismuch more directed at a mainstream au-dience," says the Oakville -born artist. "Thematerial is more commercially accessible. Itwill be interesting to see how it's received."

The singer admits that when he wrote thematerial for his first LP, he didn't think itwas the type of material which would havecommercial success. "Obviously, it did," headds.

"There's a variety of styles in the newmaterial. Some songs are a bit softer. I thinkwhat I do falls into the adult category, butthey are pop songs," Cameron states.

Cameron was nominated for a 1986Juno award in the Most Promising MaleVocalist category but lost out to CBS' BillyNewton -Davis. Ironically, Cameron'sprevious material has only now been releasedin Australia and New Zealand. He is confi-dent the product will do well.

Workshop has produced some outstandingprograms on The Beatles and The Stones andsold them to TM and Mutual.

Many of the Canadian produced pro-grams were syndicated by Len and Paul atl'elemedia who could have just bought thecheaper American shows, but understoodthat we did them better. Most of the suc-cessful "Specials" syndication in Canada inrecent history has been because of them.

But that was Yesteryear.Syndication is Big Business in America

now. America's got The Clout. Even Cana-dian performers are more likely to do an in-terview with The Americans than they are aCanadian.

. . . .And that's why Canada won't beproducing much syndication anymore andwhy most syndicated programming will comefrom America.

Too bad.Because Canadian shows are usually

quite different from American shows. Forone thing, because we need to sell themabroad, they are created from an Interna-tional perspective. American shows arecreated for America and then, as an after-thought, sold elsewhere.

But that's not all. Most of the Canadian shows are really

done for Radio. In The Beatles, we recreatedtheir first flight to New York, in Presley hisfirst public appearance, in The EvolutionKennedy's assassination, in Supertramp thebirth of Roger Hodgson's child backstage. Amagic moment in Sonic's Stones' show hasMick and Keith meeting for the first time on atrain. The sound effects are from the actualtrain.

It was Stan Freberg who pointed out thatONLY IN RADIO could you fly the RoyalAir Force over Lake Michigan and drop aMaraschino Cherry into a Mountain OfWhipped Cream to the cheering of TwentyThousand Screaming Extras.

The shows produced in America that Ihear today are usually interviews followed bymusic, followed by interviews. The writing(what there is of it) is for The Eye rather thanThe Ear.

American Radio Syndication is likeMcDonald's Hamburgers.

Now maybe we don't need A Real Cana-dian Hamburger, but we do need A RealCanadian Culture. Casey Kasem declaringthe No. 1 song in America to the people inBrandon doesn't cut it.

This isn't "sour grapes." If I wanted toproduce syndication in America that's whereI'd be. But I don't and I'm not.

It's just that, as we move once again intoan era of networking, and a culture crisis inCanadian radio, it's important to note thatCanada produced the best programming onRock History, The Beatles, Elvis and TheStones. . .and that now, famous syndicationannouncers Charlie Van Dyke and ChuckHanks got their first opportunities fromCanadian programming.

We've got The Clout too if we have theimagination to use it.

I asked the guy in Florida why he wantedto run our Beatle show. . .afterall, it's beendone many times since, and in stereo.

He said it was because it was The Best. Thanks for remembering, Florida.

ERIC CLAPTON - PopAugust - Warner Bros - 92.54761-PAlthough Phil Collins touch is far from invis-ible oh this set, the guitatist's virtuosity is leftalone on many tracks. There is a good depthwith inclusion of Tina Turner on backing voc-als (Tearing Us Apart and Hold On), the latterprecedes Miss You - and all 3 are standouts. Thelead track, It's In The Way That You Use It, isfeatured in The Color Of Money and is certainto give this effort a considerable boost. An ex-cellent follow-up to Behind The Sun and theaddition of a horn section gives an almost Gen-esis y feel but in this case, all tracks are key.

LATITUDE - New AgeSelf Titled Lifestyle LSR-6004Cross a breezy guitar with a fairlight and thisLP is whet results. Fairly lengthy pieces, writ-ten by the duo Ben Verdery and Craig Peyton.A very interesting and almost hypnotic set. Some of the guitar tracks have an Eastern feel(not PEI), yet all blend well and would make anexcellent addition to the many 'new age' radioprograms now blossoming.

THILO VON WESTERNHAGEN - New AgePleasureland - Lifestyle - LSR-6002Recorded in 1983, the LP focuses on the pia-no talents of Von Westernhagen combined with

the sax of Herb Geller, which follows closely al-ong the jazz line. A well-rounded effort, and adirect metal -mastered recording.

FRANK SINATRA PopThe Voice - The Columbia Years 1943-1952Columbia - C6X-40343-HEach record is thematically divided: SaloonSongs, Standards, Screen, Love Songs, Swingsand Stage. All the "monoaural" songs have beendigitally remastered, which should please thefans - and evidently there are quite a few left. This set includeds 72 tracks.

DURAN DURAN Rock/R&BNotorious - Capitol PJ-12540-FNile Rogers' touch is evident throughout butthis album has a consistancy and a depth bey-ond the pop realm, far above their previous re-leases. The band - now a trio - is also strongerlyrically and have added some brass touchesthis time around. Recorded at a variety of stu-dio locations (including Air and Abbey Road),it is interesting to note that although musicallythe 'color' of the group was fleshed out verywall, they have decided to appear visually inblack and white.

NEW MODEL ARMY - RockThe Ghost Of Cain Capitol - ST -12527-FPure and simple, one of the best rock 'n' rollrecords to come from the U.K. this year. What-

ever Glyn Johns gives to groups he works with, and these include: The Stones, The Who, LedZeppelin, The Clash and The Eagles; lie has alsogiven to NMA. Hopefully the band will be allow-ed to tour to support this release, at least inCanada anyway.

BOB GELDOF -Pop/RockDeep In The Heart Of NowhereAtlantic - 78-16871-PLeaving the Rats far behind, Geldof steps outon his own and delivers one of the strongestcommercial sets this year. Actually the amountof assists are even to numerous to mention here.Given his current stature, this will be a very hotalbum in the forthcoming months. All tracksare key. A deliberately poignant album thatpours straight from the biggest heart in rock 'n'roll today. Rupert Hine produced the set withthe exception of 2 tracks.

ROBIN WILLIAMS, - ComedyNight At The Met - Columbia - FC4054-HThis explicit language set is a must for any onewith a sense of humour. Produced by BrooksArthur, co -produced by David Steinberg. Atlast a comedy album with things relative tomost peoples lives. Williams takes you throughall the stages of life, Alcohol, Marijuana, Copsand Cocaine. The entire LP is funny but AlcoholMarijuna, Cocaine, Regan, Men's Parts .

deserve a close listen. Recorded live at theMetropolitan Opera, N.Y.C.

STEM RAY VAUGHAN - RockLive ACee - Epic - E2 -40511-HPackaged carefully and extremely well, thisdou-ble live set will undoubtedly command frontracks. Should put Vaughan and his bandmateson the commercial map of music. Contains hisown seriously classic tracks, as well as VoodooChile (Hendrix) and Superstition (Wonder), theformer lasting over 9 minutes. Produced by theband at 3 dates: Montreaux, Dallas and Austin.Truly, a definitive set.

VARIOUS ARTIST - PopMiami Vice II -SoundtrackMCA -6192-1At last another Miami Vice soundtrack, it seemslike a weak follow-up to the first LP. AlthoughI'd imagine if you followed the show the music

' might have some 'sentimental' meaning, butthen again Mr Sentimental has his own LP now.Executive producer is Michael Mann. Take MeHome by Phil Collins is included on this set, soit may give it some what of a boost.

KATE BUSH -Pop/RockThe Whole Story Capitol PWAS-17242-FSome of the tracks have been re -mixed on this'best of set', from one of the pioneers in themusic industry. Contains many of her U.K.hits: Wuthering Heights, The Man With TheChild In His Eyes and Wow; and of course thefinest tracks from her last effort. The previous-ly unreleased Experiment IV is the first single.Double gatefold package.

Packaged carefully and extremely well, this dou- ble live set will undoubtedly command front

racks. Should put Vaughan end his bandmates on the commercial map of music. Contains his

own seriously classic tracks, as well as Voodoo Chile (Hendrix) and Superstition (Wonder), the

former lasting over 9 minutes. Produced by the band at 3 dates: Montreaux, Dallas and Austin.

Truly, a definitive set.

VARIOUS ARTIST -Pop Miami Vice II -Soundtrack MCA -6192-J

At last another Miami Vice soundtrack, it seems like a week follow-up to the first LP. Although I'd imagine if you followed the show the music

' might have some 'sentimental' meaning, but then again Mr Sentimental has his own LP now. Executive producer is Michael Mann. Take Me

Home by Phil Collins is included on this set, so it may give it some what of a boost.

KATE BUSH -Pop/Rock The Whole Story Capitol PWAS-17242-F

Some of the tracks have been re -mixed on this 'best of set', from one of the pioneers in the

music industry. Contains many of her U.K. hits: Wuthering Heights, The Man With The

Child In His Eyes and Wow; and of course the finest tracks from her last effort. The previous-

ly unreleased Experiment IV is the first single. Double gatefold package.

The up tem-po single is a reminder to those who use to beinvolved in the real Christmas spirit, with thesleigh riding and other family traditions." Aswell as "including the sleigh bells in thesong."

Lord is currently enjoying tremonouschart action with I'll Never Get Over You,which is currently No. 6 on the RPM Country60. Fara's reaction to the success of Lord'ssingle was "I'll Never Get Over You, is asolid single for us, it has crossed -over at mostdual format stations and phone requests areperhaps her best ever. It's been 3 yearsbuilding up to this one."
