Do you want to be more involved at Liberty?

Would you be excited to find a FUN and CREATIVE job?

Do you want to be in the loop on ALL of the events at Liberty?

We are currently looking for a Newsletter Coordinator for the 2018-2019 school year. It is helpful to have some experience with Publisher (on PC) or Pages (on Mac) but isn’t necessary if one is able to take the time to learn. Estimated time spent working on the newsletter would be 2-4 hours per month, but can be as much as one wants depending on how creative you want to get! We are hoping that anyone interested is available to help out with one or two of the final newsletters this school year along with our current coordinator in order to be shown the ropes. If interested, please contact Erin Jones @ [email protected].

We don’t just want you…WE NEED YOU!

During the week of February 5th, we will have our focus week on college and career readiness called Future Week. Our goal for Future Week is to get our Lions thinking about their future plans, while learning college and career readiness vocabulary, discovering the many different options for life after high school, and learning about the skills that will help our learners be successful on whichever path they choose. Anytime we talk with students about college and career readiness, we consider three questions; Who are you? Where are you going? and How do you get there?. To get our Lions ready to learn about this important topic, we will have daily announcements, spirit days, lunchroom activities, and college fight songs playing after the last bell. As students participate in spirit days and lunchroom activities, they will be able to enter into a raffle to win college themed prizes.

Spirit Day Lunch Activity

Monday Dress for Success - When you interview for a job, it is important to dress for success! Dress like you are headed to a job interview.

Spin the Wheel - Answer an interview or trivia question and spin the prize wheel.

Tuesday

What’s your Jam - “What’s your jam?!” What interests you? Wear something to represent something you like to do! Our hobbies and interests can help show us the way towards a future career. Whether it’s your sports gear, your club shirt, or a community activity, we want to see what you are in to.

Trivia Tuesday – Answer college and career trivia questions with your lunch table. Compete against other tables to win prizes.

Wednesday

Military Appreciation Day - On this day we will wear red, white, and blue or military hats and clothing to salute our men and women in the military. There are many different paths that can be taken after high school. One option is to join a branch of the military or a ROTC program at your university. What other paths can you take?

Scavenger Hunt – Pick up a scavenger hunt card in the lunch room. Students will use the information on the College, Career, and Career Cluster spotlight posters that will be on Main Street to complete the card.

Thursday

On the Job - Do you know what career you might want someday? Whether it’s a veterinarian, a basketball coach, an entomologist, or a mechanic, dress like you are on the job! It might be helpful to wear a nametag to complete your outfit so we know where you are headed. “Hello Doctor …”

College Cake Walk – Explore different college, major, and career options by participating in a cake walk (there will be cookies, but not cakes).

Friday College Gear - Do you have a college in mind for your future? Wear your favorite college spirit gear or college colors to show off your favorite school.

What does your Future hold? – Students will make their own pennants to show where they are headed. These will be displayed on Main Street.

FUTURE WEEK!!!

Attention parents of 8th graders! Is your child interested in traveling to the East Coast with a group of friends for a week? It’s not too late to sign up, but that window of time is getting closer to a close. This 8th grade trip will be June 22-29, 2018. On this trip, we will visit Colonial Williamsburg, Washington D.C., Lancaster, PA, Gettysburg, PA, and New York City. This trip is open to students at any middle school in the Camas School District. If you haven’t registered yet, but are planning to, please email [email protected] for more information.
