Layout and Library Sections

Library has a sprawling space with air-conditioning and having designated area for different sections of the library which stimulate a nice ambiance for reading:

Circulation Section: Issue and Return of books is handled with the help of computer.

Reference Section: It includes all the reference books i.e. Dictionaries, Encyclopedia, Yearbooks etc.

Acquisition and Technical Section: This section acquires books and other reading material. Before, the reading material is made available for use on stacks, it is technically processed in this section.

Periodical Section: It includes journals, newspapers & newsletters which gives information on advancements in medical field.

Training Module Section: This section includes training modules for all the training conducted by SIHFW.

Reading Rooms & Stack Area: The reading space is provided with comfortable seating and book stacks are housed in the reading room for the convenience of the users.

Display of Information: Regularly current articles and news are displayed at the notice boards.

Collection & Resources

The library has been fully automated and has rich collection of

books of various subjects i.e. Tuberculosis, Nutrition & Dietetics,

Leprosy, Public Health, Radiology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry,

Cancer, Gynecology, Nursing, Pharmacology, Pediatrics,

Medicine, Anesthesia, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology etc.

Apart from textbooks and recommended reading material

prescribed for training courses offered at the institute, library

houses a growing collection of Training Modules, Newspapers,

Journals, Annual Reports, Training Reports, Programme

Implementation Plan, Multi-Volume Reference books,

Dictionaries, Encyclopedia etc. and so on.

Library also provides e-books, CDs/DVDs, e-modules, e-bulletin

on health news that is being published on weekly basis.

Rules & Guidelines Library Membership, Circulation Polices and Borrowing

Ÿ A member can borrow only two books at a time for a period of 15

days and 1 CD/DVD for 2 days.

Ÿ In Health Dept. Haryana, anyone can become a lifelong member

of this library after depositing Library Security of Rs. 500/-.This

is refundable if membership is discontinued after a period of six

months from the issue of Library Card. Library will return back

his/her security after depositing membership card to the library.

Ÿ One has to enroll himself a member of the library by giving 1

passport size and 1 stamp size photograph and the address proof

such as voter ID card, Ration card etc. and Identity Card issued by

Health dept. Govt. of Haryana.

Ÿ Only registered library members are allowed to borrow library

documents.

Ÿ Books may be retained for a period not exceeding 15 days.

Members who fail to return the borrowed documents on or within

the due date shall be liable to pay overdue charges at the rate of 50

paisa per day on the spot. In case of document where there is no

record of the cost, the cost as determined by the Library

Committee will be charged.

Ÿ Re-issue of books by a user shall be allowed maximum two times

after first issue, if there is no demand by others.

Ÿ Library membership card is not transferable and must be

produced whenever requested by Library staff.

Ÿ A lost library card may be replaced by a fee of Rs.10.00 along

with an undertaking that the member concerned will be

responsible for any book taken on the library card.

Ÿ The members should inform the library their new designations,

official addresses and addresses of communication as and when

they move to new assignments or locations.

Ÿ Library books and documents must be treated with honor. It is

prohibited to underline, write notes or pull out pages there from.

Ÿ Books lost or damaged in any manner shall be replaced by the

borrower. In case of set of volumes, price for the whole set will be

charged.

About the Institute

State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) is the apex

training institute of Department of Health & Family Welfare, Haryana.

Since its inception in 1993, it has progressed tremendously and on ndDecember 22 , 2000. It established itself as NIHFW recognized

Collaborating Training Institute (CTI) for Haryana, J&K and (UT)

Chandigarh. SIHFW was formally Registered on 11 Nov 2010 as a

Society with the Registrar of Societies (Reg No 73/2010-11) by the

Govt. of Haryana with the District Registrar of Firms and Societies,

Panchkula, Haryana under Societies Act 1860, in the name of

"SWASTHYA PRASHIKSHAN KENDRA, Haryana.”

SIHFW organizes trainings for medical and paramedical staff apart

from coordinating and supervising the activities of Trainings related to

Maternal Health, Child Health, Family Planning and Miscellaneous at

the District level.

SIHFW Library

The library in its new premises was formally shifted on the first floor of

SIHFW to improve and expand the library for its easy access by its

members. The location allows easy access and offers good seating

capacity. Its modular and functional style fulfills the purpose of a

planned library. There is provision of three reading rooms included

Periodical section, Reference section and Training module section.

The library has rich collection which includes books, journals, training

reports, newspapers, annual reports, CD's/DVD's etc. also provides

free access or browse information through Wi-Fi.
