Intermediate students play ’20 Questions’ in order to develop strategic thinking and good questioning skills.

• Students use clip art to help clarify the differences between inferring and predicting. It is fun using body language to kick off the lesson.

• 5th graders love using webcams from zoos around the country to strengthen skills in visualizing from two perspectives.

• Students gear up for the ‘Atlas Tournament’ which challenges learners to locate and interpret information using charts, graphs, timelines, and maps.

• 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are now able to create their own personal book list customized for reading level using our new online library catalog, Destiny.

• 2nd grade students become experts in identifying dozens of subject areas in the 10 major Dewey families. Online activities related to each subject area are included. You should see them browse the shelves!

• 1st graders have a great time constructing their own fairy tale using animated websites.

• We use graphic organizers from Kidspiration to help us connect what we read to our own lives, the story, and the world around us.

• Our natural curiosity is encouraged whenever we use ‘I Wonder’ logs. Discovering information is just downright fun!!!

• Safari Montage is a awesome tool in helping us to develop schema for all subject areas. The ‘Reading Rainbow’ add-on package is perfect in helping us to make the connection between the story and the real-world.
