to the forming ofletters and figures asin or e extensivetext-books, as it is

to giYe a collection of alphabets,headings, titles aud borders thatwill aid the student in the arrangement of snch things on drmYings.

The student will do well to makea collection of engravings, fnlldesigns, letterings, comics, figures,initials, tail-pieces, etc., from catalogues, magazines, papers, books,etc., and to put them in a scrapbook for future use.

Tl e pencil should be held at rightangles to the line to be drawn whendrawing straight lines. and at anangle of about 30 to the paper,while in order to insure good smoothlines, tbe ruling pen or right lineshould be held perpendicular to theright . line.NOTE.-See Errata on opposite page.
