Course outline The Level 3 Stroke Care Management Qualification offers 7 units, covering a wide range of topics that impact on the lives of Stroke survivors. Assessment of the qualification combines theory and practice. The practical assessment encompasses communication skills, goals setting and aiding people who have swallowing problems. This ensures that students gain a greater understanding of Stroke and how to offer best practice to Stroke survivors in their care. Given the complex nature of Stroke many of our students found that all of these units have transferable skills to other conditions such as Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, MS and many more. Who should attend this course? These courses are open to all – health and social care professionals, carers and families of those who are affected by stroke or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). How to access this training This course is available as an in-house course for up to 20 delegates in your workplace. Or can be accessed for individual learners at various locations around the UK. Course costsFor a commissioned course in your workplace this 7 unit course will cost £7,560 for 18 students and an additional £420 per student, up to a maximum of 20. Individual learners can access courses for £720 per person.

FundingThis qualification is recognised for funding from the Workforce Development Fund if your staff are registered on the NMDS-SC in England. Our prices are structured so that if you are eligible for funding you can claim back 100% of the training fees for 18 – 20 students. The 28 credits from this course can count towards a Health and Social Care Diploma. (You will need to check with your provider)

Units

• Stroke Awareness • Understand the impact of Acquired Brain Injury

on individuals • Understand stroke care management • Promote nutrition and hydration in health and

social care settings * • Support individuals to manage dysphagia * • Support individuals with specific

communication needs * • Provide support to maintain and develop skills

for everyday life *

* These units contain a work place assessment.

Work Place Assessment

• These are conducted by our specialist Stroke Trainers in the work environment.

• They offer the opportunity to troubleshoot any service users needs

• They ensure that students are putting their learning into practice

• They offer transferrable skills to other conditions.

• We can provide the equipment and materials for students to trial with their service users.

This course is delivered in 8 contact days and also requires self-directed study.Workbooks and materials will be provided.
