This is how it happened. 2 Several of the disciples were there - Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples. 3 Simon Peter said, ‘I’m going fishing.’ ‘We’ll come, too,’ they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night. 4 At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who He was. 5 He called out, ‘Fellows, have you caught any fish?‘ ‘No,’ they replied. 6 Then He said,’Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!’ So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it. 7 Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It’s the Lord!’ When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore.” (NLT) 1. Fishing Can Be Contagious | John 21:3 “Simon Peter said, ‘I’m going fishing.’ ‘We’ll come, too,’ they all said. So they went out in the boat...” (NLT) Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” (NLT) Ephesians 4:11-12 11 ”Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” (NLT) 2. Fishing Isn’t Always Easy | John 21:4-5 4 “At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who He was. 5 He called out, ‘Fellows, have you caught any fish?‘ ‘No,’ they replied.” (NLT) Luke 10:2-3 2 “These were His instructions to them: ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields. 3 Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.’” (NLT) 3. Fishing Requires Some Flexibility ? John 21:6 “Then He said,’Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!’ So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.” (NLT) Luke 5:4 “When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.’” (NLT) 4. Fishing Reveals Our Devotion ? John 21:7 “Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It’s the Lord!’ When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore.” (NLT) Luke 5:7-8 7 “So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, ‘Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’” (NKJV) 5. Fishing Is Extremely Wise | Matthew 4:18-20 18 “One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers - Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew - throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 19 Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, follow Me, and I will show you how to fish for people!’ 20 And they left their nets at once and followed Him.” (NLT) Proverbs 11:30b “...he who wins souls is wise.” (NKJV) Message Notes| #LetsGo | Part Four Loving God! when sinners are saved. From the captain to the cook, we need all hands on deck!”
