Life in Christ First United Methodist Church of Cameron, Texas 2016 Publication Number #16 Church News – November 29, 2016 Note from the Pastor: Luke 2:10-14 NASB But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. "This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” These are the angel’s words to the shepherds announcing the birth of Jesus. Look at the words that were used; “Do not be afraid”, “good news”, “great joy”, “for all the people”, “born for you a Savior”, “peace among men with whom He is pleased.” What wonderful words! What a wonderful message to bring! Notice also how this good news, joy, peace, and Savior came into the world; “you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Jesus was born into this world, the second part of the Trinity, the Word made flesh, our Savior. He didn’t come marching into the city with an army or announcing Himself with a parade. No, He came as a baby born in a barn and laying in the food trough. Our great and mighty, all powerful, purely holy God came to us in the most humblest of ways. While He was here on earth He did not demand people’s attention or allegiance but ate with sinners, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and showed us how to have a relationship with God. By societies standards it is an odd way for an all powerful God to act, but that is our loving and caring God. He did not come only for the elite or most religious but for all people, that all could be saved. What a great and wonderful God we serve! I know the holiday season can be very busy; parties, gifts, food, decorations, family, and friends. But in this time let us not forget what our God did for us. He left heaven so that He could be with us and bring us salvation and life. He came in a way that we could relate to Him because He desires so strongly to have a relationship with us. Let us remember what God did for us, He gave us everything, and give Him our everything in return. Blessings, Geoff Page 1 of 4 F U M C Sunday School . . . . . . . . 9:45 am Fellowship Coffee . . . . . 10:30 am Worship . . . . . . . . . . . . . .11:00 am Attendance Oct 2016 02 09 16 23 30 Sunday School 36 41 33 36 12 Worship 99 100 106 90 86 Nov 2016 06 13 20 27 Sunday School 31 29 14 32 Worship 99 97 76 92 Contributions: Minimum Needed Weekly......$5,318.00 October 2016___________ Received 02 $ 4,687.00 09 $ 3,618.00 16 $ 3,698.00 23 $ 2,585.00 30 $ 4,503.00 Total Received. …. $ 14,588.00 __ November 2016_______ Received 06 $ 5,370.00 13 $ 2,867.00 20 $ 3,143.00 27 $ 3,559.00 Total Received $ 14,939.00 MAYSFIELD CHURCH Worship . . . . . . . . . . . 9:00 am ____________________________________ Attendance Oct. 2016 02 09 16 23 30 Worship 14 15 17 11 17 Nov. 2016 06 13 20 27 Worship 24 16 19 14 A big thank you for these wonderful members who decorated the church for the Christmas season: Brenda Barton Debbie Gommert Murdock, Sadie, and Savannah Dorner Pat Camp Alan and Virginia Sapp John Youngblood

Church News – November 29, 2016

Note from the Pastor: Luke 2:10-14 NASB But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for

behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for

today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ

the Lord. "This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and

lying in a manger." And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of

the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And

on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

These are the angel’s words to the shepherds announcing the birth of Jesus.

Look at the words that were used; “Do not be afraid”, “good news”, “great joy”,

“for all the people”, “born for you a Savior”, “peace among men with whom He

is pleased.” What wonderful words! What a wonderful message to bring! Notice

also how this good news, joy, peace, and Savior came into the world; “you will

find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Jesus was born into this

world, the second part of the Trinity, the Word made flesh, our Savior. He didn’t

come marching into the city with an army or announcing Himself with a parade.

No, He came as a baby born in a barn and laying in the food trough. Our great

and mighty, all powerful, purely holy God came to us in the most humblest of

ways. While He was here on earth He did not demand people’s attention or

allegiance but ate with sinners, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and showed

us how to have a relationship with God. By societies standards it is an odd way

for an all powerful God to act, but that is our loving and caring God. He did not

come only for the elite or most religious but for all people, that all could be saved.

What a great and wonderful God we serve! I know the holiday season can be

very busy; parties, gifts, food, decorations, family, and friends. But in this time

let us not forget what our God did for us. He left heaven so that He could be

with us and bring us salvation and life. He came in a way that we could relate

to Him because He desires so strongly to have a relationship with us. Let us

remember what God did for us, He gave us everything, and give Him our

everything in return. Blessings, Geoff
