22  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23

 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks

at his face in a mirror

 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and

continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in

what he does.

Isaiah 30:15-18 (NIV)

15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is

your strength, but you would have none of it. 16 You said, 'No, we will flee on horses.'

Therefore you will flee! You said, 'We will ride off on swift horses.' Therefore your

pursuers will be swift!

1. Think about your motivation.

than yourselves.

love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one

2. What are some of the things you are doing with

wrong motives?

James 4:1-3 (NIV)

1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something but don't

get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask

God.

3. Do some pruning.

1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above,

on earthly things.

4. Wait for Him.

fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and

increases the power of the weak.
