6 a.m. City crews begin working on projects pertaining to the flood

and continue to work to on projects today (8/6/13).

11:30 a.m. State of Emergency declared.

12:30 p.m. Staff from various departments meet at City Hall (Emergency Operations Center for Hickory) to gather information, form a plan of action, and execute the plan.

1 – 8:30 p.m. The EOC remains open Staff keeps up with what all departments are doing, updates the Mayor and Council, stays in contact with Catawba County EOC, as well as Conover and Newton, sends media releases and answers media questions, updates Hickory’s website

and social media.

HPD’s Communication Center is a 911 Secondary Public Safety Answering Point.

HPD Communication Center serves as the call taking service for Public Services during non-business hours. •Monday-Friday 3:00 p.m. until the following morning at 7:00 a.m.•24 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you to the City crews (and all utilities) for fast action and a great job coordinating services back into the subdivision I live in including the construction of an access road. It was very fast response and a great job was done by the City’s contractor JK Landscaping and Grading.

July 28 EOC is open 2 – 4 p.m., team evaluates the situation, listens to reports from

departments, updates the Mayor and Council, as well as the media.

July 29-31Let citizens know how to report flood damage as well as continue to solve problems and connecting with fellow agencies.
