This year, the Pregnancy Help Center celebrates its 21st year of service in the

San Gabriel Valley. We are proud of all we have done in the community. Saving lives and building families is a great accomplishment!

2014 was a great year for the Center and this issue of Lifelines acknowledges all who generously donate to us in a variety of ways. For some, it was their time and talents; for others, supplies and gifts-in-kind for the annex or office; for still others, monetary donations. All these gifts are necessary to keep our doors open and to fulfill our Mission: The Pregnancy Help Center of San Gabriel Valley, Inc. provides support to those experiencing a crisis pregnancy.

Baby Bottle Drives, Crib Projects, and Baby Showers were sponsored by local middle and high schools, churches, and mom’s groups in our area to support the Center. It’s inspiring to see young people get involved and show their support for Life!

In 2014, we were invited to have interactive booths at Rosemead and

Temple City events where people painted designs on baby onesies to be given to new mothers. We did the same at the Pro-Life Youth Rally at the Stub Hub Center in Carson. These were fabulous opportunities to spread the word in our communities that we are here to help new mothers in need.

We enjoyed dining out events at several local restaurants where family and friends of PHC gathered and shared a meal. A percentage of the proceeds were presented to the Center.

Twice monthly Parenting Classes taught parents how to build strong families by making healthy life choices. Weekly post-abortion counseling sessions were held at the Center, to help individuals to heal and grow in the Love of Christ.

It’s wonderful to look back at so many wonderful people and events that touched our lives, but we also are anticipating great things for the year ahead. We are glad so many of you are with us on this Journey of Life! Y

In 2014 the Pregnancy Help Center served 1272 mothers, fathers and babies through our different services: counseling, free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, parenting classes, and distributions of supplies from our annex.

In this issue we give you a financial glimpse of the

Pregnancy Help Center in 2014. Last year, we fell short of the $250,000 we had budgeted; tabulating all our income, we came in at about $235,000. Since our overall expenses were $250,000 the Center, in essence, lost $15,000 in 2014. Our 2014 income was actually about $3,000 less than the previous year but our expenses increased by about $33,000.

Overall, this is not a pretty picture. We did, however, purposely increase our staff, specifically in our Development area realizing we must generate

more income. That does not happen overnight, but with our Director of Development we are going ahead with multiple grant requests as well as other activities that will hopefully increase our donor base and keep our name in front of our regular donors.

This year, we are challenged with finding a new space for the Center which will no doubt increase our expenses and monthly operational costs well beyond what they were in 2014.

Please keep our Mission in your mind, and be as generous as you can to help us continue the good work of saving precious lives. Y

Looking Ahead

Our February luncheon was a big success with

many in attendance. We distributed our yearly roster at the luncheon; and for those who did not attend, your rosters are in the mail. Thanks to C.C. Ramos, Barbara Schnieders and their very capable committee members. 

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and most Parish Representatives joined our March meeting/luncheon and received all the materials along with Mother’s Day gifts. From

there they will form parish committees to put together the gifts and deliver them before Mother’s Day.  

We thank Julie Schnieders and Liz Huston (Parish Representative Coordinators) as well as Ann Sanders and Andrea Telleri-Ruiz (Mother’s Day Benefit Co-Chairs) for their hard work and commitment. Along with the Parish Representatives, these ladies work very hard on our biggest fundraiser and we ask everyone who receives our gift to support the Pregnancy Help Center of San Gabriel Valley. Y
