Welcome to the “Gem City” of Quincy, a community built atop limestone bluffs that run along the Mississippi River. Our city is in a uniquely desirable location between the major metropolitan areas of Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis and Des Moines. Quincy is called the “Gem City” due to its sparkling reputation as a center of commerce, agriculture and manufacturing. It’s also home to a system of more than 25 well-maintained parks with many fields and courts for sports activities, allowing residents to enjoy the outdoors without having to even leave the city limits.
This is the perfect place to experience the convenience of big-city living without dealing with the hustle and bustle associated with urban crowds. After all, our tri-state area offers one of the finest qualities of life available in the central United States. The properties that you’ll find here are loaded with agricultural opportunities, unbeatable river views and outstanding hunting potential.

In fact, the tri-state region allows you access to some of the best hunting for white-tailed deer in the world. The Boone & Crockett Club ranks Iowa as the top destination on Earth for deer hunting, with Illinois in the fourth spot and Missouri in sixth place. If you’re interested in owning property in any of these states, fear not; United Country – Wallingford Group is licensed in all three.
You can also rest assured that, no matter where you choose to go in the tri-state area, you’ll never be far from major urban amenities. Morning and evening Amtrak services provide access to trains that travel from Quincy to Chicago seven days a week. Multiple daily flights from Quincy’s Municipal Airport to St. Louis’ Lambert Airport make the entire country accessible within a single day of travel. Those traveling the new I-27/”Avenue of the Saints,” as the I-27 corridor from St. Louis to Minneapolis/St. Paul is called,
tend to travel through Quincy around the middle of their drive, as do those who take I-72 from
Chicago to Kansas City.

Hannibal, Missouri 217-214-2752
Cross the border into Missouri to discover Hannibal, America’s Hometown. This community is well-known for being the small river town where Mark Twain grew up, but today, more than 17,000 people hang their hats here. The city’s association with Twain has resulted in a variety of attractions related to his legacy. These in turn have transformed Hannibal from a center of livestock and grain marketing to a regional tourism destination.
Some of the destinations that tourists enjoy visiting are sites made famous through Mark Twain’s fiction. Mark Twain Cave, the inspiration
behind the climactic location in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, provides guided one-hour tours wherein guests are led to
numerous specific points mentioned in Twain’s writings. The home of the girl who served as the basis for the
character of Becky Thatcher is also a popular stop. There are also a number of historic
locations worth checking out, such as Twain’s boyhood home and
the office of his father, John Clemens.

Plus, don’t forget to hit Sawyer’s Creek Fun Park to find a miniature golf course, bumper boats, arcades and a shooting gallery as well as wine and sweet shops offering delicious local wares. And we haven’t even touched upon the many gorgeous outdoor areas for camping, hiking and other recreational pursuits.
Hannibal’s numerous attractions include much more than those created by Mark Twain’s legacy, however. The birthplace of the famous Titanic survivor known as the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown can also be found in this fair city. Be sure to stop by the Train Town Museum & Gift Shop to see new and vintage toy trains come alive.

Mark Twain Lake 217-214-2752
Experience 18,600 acres of top-quality water recreation. Mark Twain Lake is a large body of water located just southwest of Quincy, Ill., and its neighbor of Hannibal, Mo. This is the place to go if you want to fish for largemouth or smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, walleye, carp and more. In fact, crappie and bass tournaments are regularly held on the lake. With an abundance of rough fish, including carp, buffalo and gar, Mark Twain Lake also provides excellent opportunities for bow-fishing. Just head to a launch ramp or one of the two full-service marinas to hit the water, but don’t worry; there are additional stocked ponds for those without boats.
There’s much more to Mark Twain Lake than just fishing, however. A total of approximately 55,000 acres of both land and water are available for public enjoyment at the lake, including extensive walking and equestrian trails. The lake’s Joanna Trail was chosen as one of the Top 25 hiking trails nationwide by Reserve America in 2009. Four developed recreation areas
offer camping facilities with full hookups, showers, scenic overlooks, playgrounds and a whole lot more. There are additional
primitive camping areas along the 30-mile expanse of the Joanna Trail.

About 43,000 acres are open for hunting pursuits. Deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, quail, dove and waterfowl are among the game species you can stalk
here. A portion of the lake is an established waterfowl refuge. All lands and waters in the refuge are closed to boating during waterfowl
hunting season. All other hunting and bank-fishing activities are permitted during this time. Portable
deer stands and waterfowl blinds are permitted on all available hunting lands, but must be
removed each day after the hunt.
