LIM College Supplemental Scholarships LIM College offers a number of need-based and non-need-based competitive scholarships. Freshman Students: LIM College offers two competitive scholarships: LIM College Business Leadership Scholarship and the LIM College / New York BOCES Scholarship. Please see below for eligibility requirements and required form. Supplemental scholarship application due by 5pm EST March 31, 2015. The Continuing Student Supplemental Scholarship Application deadline is March 31, 2015. Applications must be post-marked by March 31, 2015. Marcuse Presidential Scholarship A student who entered LIM College as a first-year, first- semester freshman and who will be a senior in the upcoming fall semester. Must have completed first two years at LIM College including both College Algebra and Statistics with a B or better. One award of $2,500. Non-renewable. Submit a separate 500- word essay on “The Creative Application of Mathematics” in Management, Marketing, Merchandising or Visual Merchandising along with your scholarship application by March 31, 2015. No FAFSA necessary. Leah Ryan Scholarship Established in honor of Professor Ryan for her devotion to teaching LIM College students who struggle to write well and persist in doing so. Current LIM College students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must have passed Writing Essentials, and earned a B or better in English Composition 1. Need not a factor. Two awards of $1,500. Non-renewable. Submit a separate creative 500-word essay that discusses a physical job, an art, or a hobby that you are working to master along with your scholarship application by March 31, 2015. No FAFSA necessary. LIM College Business Leadership Scholarship Entering freshmen and transfer students who are active members of DECA, FCCLA, FBLA, or SIFE. Current LIM College students who are in leadership roles in LIM College clubs or organizations. Limited number of awards of $3,000 per year. A student who entered LIM College as a first-year, first-semester freshman and who will be a senior in the upcoming fall semester. Based on merit and exceptional academic credentials (3.5 or above GPA).

One full-tuition scholarship to a student in his or her senior year.

Submit the Marcuse Presidential scholarship application and Marcuse Presidential Scholarship Recommendations by April 7, 2015. No FAFSA necessary. Final candidates will be interviewed by the college president.

Maxwell F. Marcuse Founder's Scholarship

A student who entered LIM College as a first-year, first-semester freshman and who will be a senior in the upcoming fall semester. Based on merit and exceptional academic credentials (3.5 or above GPA).

One award of half tuition.

LIM College / New York BOCES Scholarship

High school students who have graduated from a NYS BOCES Fashion Merchandising program with an 80% average or better in the fashion program.

$3,000 per year. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for renewal.

LIM College Visual Merchandising Scholarship

Entering transfer students who have declared a Visual Merchandising major.

Limited number of awards of $1,000 per year. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and enrollment as a VM major for renewal consideration.

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. No FAFSA necessary.

LIM College Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Entering transfer students who are a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society.

$1,000 award added to Transfer Grant for students in Phi Theta Kappa. Based upon availability.

Academic criteria are evaluated during the admissions application review process. No FAFSA necessary.

Need-Based - FAFSA Required

Mildred Marcuse Scholarship

Entering associate degree candidate with at least a B average in high school. Based on need and ability.

One award of half tuition. Non-renewable.

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. FAFSA required.

Design: Retail Magazine's Visual Merchandising Scholarship (formerly Display and Design Ideas)

Current LIM College student who has completed first year of Introduction to Visual Merchandising (VMER 100) at LIM College with a B or better. Student must demonstrate above average talent and have an interest in pursuing a retail career as a visual merchandiser. Must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 after attending at least one semester at LIM College. Need is also a factor.

One award of $2,000. Non-renewable.

FAFSA required. Submit scholarship application by March 31, 2015.

Alexandra S. Potts Memorial Scholarship

Available to entering freshman based on their need and ability.

One award of $1,000. Non-renewable.

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. FAFSA required.

LIM College / Community College Scholarship

Incoming graduates with an Associate degree. Based on merit, exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.3 or above) and need.

Limited number of renewable awards of half tuition per community college for eligible student. Must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Very Competitive. Based on availability.

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. FAFSA required.

LIM College / FIDM Scholarship

Incoming graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) with an Associate degree. Based on merit, exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.3 or above) and need.

One renewable award of half tuition. Must maintain GPA of at least 3.3 or higher. Very competitive. Based on availability.

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. FAFSA required.

Essence Magazine Scholarship

Incoming freshman who is African-American or African-Caribbean. Based on need and ability.

One award of $2,000. Non-renewable

A select group of students will be nominated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for consideration. FAFSA required.

Ron Knoth Scholarship. Established in honor of Professor Knoth for his creativity, uniqueness, and kind, unassuming devotion to LIM College students.

Current LIM College student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better who has completed Fashion Fundamentals with a B or better. Need is also a factor.

One award of $1,500. Non-renewable.

FAFSA required. Submit a separate image and a 500-word essay on what the image means to you. You can create the image or include a copy of an image from a book, magazine, or any other resource. Submit scholarship application by March 31, 2015.

Mario Abela Scholarship. Established in honor of long-time staff member Mr. Abela for his over 35 years of service to the College and our students.

Current LIM College student who is the first in their family to attend college and was born (or has a parent who was born) outside of the U.S. Must also have worked in high school and is continuing to work part-time while enrolled at LIM College to help with their educational expenses. Need and ability are factors.

One award of $1,500. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at LIM College after having attended at least two semesters with a math grade of at least a B. Non-renewable

FAFSA Required. Submit a separate 300 to 400-word essay in which you discuss your work history and financial need to continue working. Resume also required. Submit scholarship application by March 31, 2015.

*Please note that unless otherwise specified, LIM College scholarships may only be applied to the full-time flat rate tuition for the fall and spring semesters at LIM College. All scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis and LIM College reserves the right to make adjustments to these awards. Note that one supplemental scholarship is offered per scholarship recipient.


Recommended
