Apology for Delay - Williamson
Map of Co. Down 1840
The Linen Hall wishes to apologise for the
length of time taken to fulfill orders for the Williamson maps. The production of such an
edition, with each sheet individually printed from the original copper plate, is necessarily a time
consuming business. The work can only be carried out by a highly-skilled printer, using a particular type of press. Each sheet has to be place between boards until dryt and this also imposes a limitation of both time and space. Hand-coloured orders are also subject to further delay.
We wish to assure all those who have ordered that we are working through the backlog as
quickly as possible, and that sets are being supplied in strict rotation of ordering.
