Dear Parents / Carers,
ARTS FESTIVAL & SCHOOL CON-CERT
What a huge week ahead with the Arts Festival running over the 5 days next week, as well as our School Concert. Our Concert ( which includes an item from the Kindergarten as well as all the classrooms ) will be held on Tuesday evening from 6pm – 7.30 approx. It will be held in Galvin Hall ( Wodonga Senior Secondary College ) located on the Woodland Street side. Please arrive at 5.45 to be seat-ed and ready to go by 6pm. Tickets for the concert cost $5 per family and there will be some lucky door prizes drawn at the conclusion of the concert. Families are expected to stay to the end and support all our clas-ses. Please make every attempt to attend as class items require all the students involvement, and it is important to provide the students with these special opportunities to perform in front of large audiences. I thank our parent community for the work and effort they go to with props and costumes required to make our concert and Arts Festi
val items engaging. Special thanks to our wonderful staff who have spent much time pre-paring the students and getting their items polished ready for next week. Our students are re-ally excited!
PARENT OPINION SURVEYS
If you were a randomly chosen parent who received a Parent Opinion Survey for this year, we would like to remind you that they must be returned by Mon-day at the latest. Thank you so much to those who have com-pleted them and returned their survey to the school. We really value you feedback so thanks for taking the time to do so.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
What an awesome day was had last Friday for all our years 3 – 6 students who travelled over to Albury ‘s Alexandra Park for our annual Athletics Sports. I was most impressed with the level of participation from all stu-dents. Everyone had a go at all the activities and just had some fun. This attitude is fantastic to observe and I really felt proud of the students ( some of whom don’t find physical activity their
most favourite thing ) , but I could tell they felt proud of their individual efforts. Students were supporting each other, cheering and encouraging their efforts. Congratulations to Mrs Macdonald who has put in many weeks of training the stu-dents in all the various Athletics events during P.E. lessons. I know she was very proud of her students. Well done to all the staff , student and parent help-ers who worked to make it a highly successful day.
Regards ,
Jocelyn Owen

CFA Visit
On Wednesday 14th August the school was fortunate to
have a visit from the CFA education bus to speak with
students from 2/3 up to year 6 about home fire safety.
What a wonderful opportunity for all who attended. I
hope students share what they have learned with the rest
of their families.
Training 4 Trades
Six students from year 6 were chosen to
participate in this year’s ‘Training 4
Trades’ group. After several years doing
metalwork we have switched back to
woodwork and the students are busy work-
ing on their projects. I won’t say what they
are making as some students want it to be a
surprise but I have no doubt the finished
product will be fantastic.

There may be other break time activities that will be announced on the day they happen.

ATSI Discussion Group
The next Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Discussion group meeting is next Tuesday 28th of August at 9.15am in the meeting room. All family members with an interest in cultural inclusiveness are welcome to attend.
Houses
All students met with their house groups last week and by all ac-counts it was a lot of fun. Water house enjoyed hearing about items that were used by early Australians, Fire learnt some new dance moves and Earth had fun with some hoppity frogs. It is fan-tastic to see students of all ages interacting with each other and getting to know some teachers that aren’t their classroom teacher a bit better.
SPORTING SCHOOLS
Fortunately we have been successful in attaining substantial funding from Sporting Schools again, so that students in our Junior school can participate in a Gymnastics and Tennis program this term, FREE of charge!
Students in FP and FB will be doing the Launchpad Gym Fun program at Flyaway Gymnastics Centre and stu-dents from 1/2M and 1/2G will be doing a four-week Hot Shots Tennis program run by Cameron Meager from Margaret Court Tennis Academy.
This is an excellent program and I am sure the students are very excited to be attending.

Conjunctivitis Outbreak
We have had numerous cases of Conjunctivitis
which is highly infectious. If you notice your
child has red, sore eyes (or there is discharge)
they must be excluded from school until any dis-
charge from their eyes has ceased. We would
recommend you promptly see your doctor for
medication to alleviate this nasty condition. Gymnastics fun
