SITE PROFILE/UPDATES

Appleton HS is the second largest of 3 high schools in the district, and the oldest. It is located in a fairly low SES area of town; it’s population is diverse (35% of its student population is minority) and has attendance issues. The principal is in her second year at the school. One of the site coaches from last year left – he had most of the “paperwork” from team meetings and now no one can find the written team plan they developed. The current year’s coaches are trying to contact him and get this. They are implementing OTISS at their 9th Grade Academy only.

The principal didn’t attend the first meeting when the fidelity assessment was conducted. The site coaches remarked that she did not attend many meetings last year and are concerned the same will happen this year. The team appears invested in the process, but also a bit “harried” and anxious to get back to their classes/assignments.
