Overview of a Credential Program
Post-Baccalaureate 2 & 3 semester programs2 Semester Program (full time) - Each
semester includes coursework and student teaching.
3 Semester Program - Student teaching in the final semester. Desirable for those who continue working part time until student teaching.

Student Teaching
Two placements at two different levels:
Primary grades (K-3)Intermediate grades (4-6) – can be
through 8th grade if in a self-contained classroom
Middle SchoolHigh School

Prerequisites Common to Basic Credential Programs
CSET/CBEST Examinations-take early (begin late in junior year)Certificate of Clearance – apply 6-12 months in
advance of program admission (applications at EBA-259)
GPA – 2.67 cumulative (all college coursework) or 2.75 last 60 units
Tuberculin clearance to be valid while enrolled in program (Health Services)
Dual application – apply to the university for post-graduate study AND apply to department

At this site you will find information regarding the application process as well as dates, times, locations for our group advising sessions

information regarding application due dates.
• In your senior year work toward completion of prerequisites (ED 451 and SPED 450).
• Register to take the CBEST (and CSET if needed) exams (if these were not completed in Jr. year).
• Stop by the Office of Student Services in (EBA 259) and pick up information about applying for a Certificate of Clearance.
