Location

• Lisbon is located one the west coast near the Atlantic ocean, it lies in a bay next to Barreiro and Setubal.

•Lisbon is located in southern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula which it shares with its neighbor Spain.

•The main climate in Lisbon is Subtropical-Mediterranean.

• This is The Arco da Rua Augusta, it was built in the later part of the 18th century, Many statues adorn the arch itself and signify important moments in the city's distant past.

Casa Dos Bicos

• Dating back to the 1500’s it still stands today, it literally translates into “House of Nozzles” for its numerous points and peaks on its roofs and architecture

Castelo De Sao Jorge

• The castle was built in the late 14th century it is encircled by a moat and is entered by and old stone bridge, it is noted for its amazing architecture, and I also climbed it once (ACB).

Mosteiro dos Jeronimos

• The monastery was built in the beginning of the 16th century although it took 50 years to build, an extensive level of decoration with detailed stone carvings.

Praca De Touros do Campo Pequeno

• The building is for bullfighting a popular spectator sport in Spain and Portugal, the bulding was built in 1890 it was recently remodeled and was reopened in 2006.

Santa Engracia Church

• The church stands on the foundation of a church that was torn down, it took many years for architects to come up with a plan for executing the build and planned to model the one in Rome only to be finished in 1966.

Belem Tower

• The Belem Tower was built in 1515 as a fortress to protect Lisbon’s harbor. For sailors it was a last glance at their homeland before they left the harbor

Carmo Convent Ruins• The Carmo Convent ruins

are remains of the earthquake in 1755, at the time it was thee biggest church in Lisbon.

Waterways Relied On by Lisbon

• Lisbon relies on many rivers and an ocean to the west. The city mostly depends on the Atlantic Ocean because it provides trade routes that no other city inland has s it has more variation to trade from because of the many ports in the city; also it relies on the Tagus river which flows through the country and into Spain.

• There are many forms of transportation in Lisbon including a metro system, trains, trams, buses, and taxis, and also has a tourist harbor for cruise ships setting a new record for 500,000 passengers.

Cais do Sodre• This is a major form of

transportation it is a hub for Busses, the metro, train, and a ferry terminal this is where the trains departs to Cascais and Estoril and trams pass by on their way to Belem.

Oriente Station• This is the city’s main

station; located in the heart of the city it is a metro and bus terminal, a necessary stop for all trains that pass through Lisbon.

Rossio Station

•The city’s most central station located right downtown, reopened in 2007 after major renovation.

Taxis

• Taxis are a one of the main forms of transportation for tourist because you can go anywhere in lisbon for only 10 Euros, which is about 12 dollars

• It is located in almost the center on Lisbon, and goes to many places all over the world it is the central airport in Portugal.
