8. EXPRESS WAY - Undeniably capable but can prove tricky. Not entirely at his ease at Vincennes earlier in the month but should appreciate these conditions. One to note
9. ECLIPSE DREAM - Mixes the good with the less good but is already a G.III winner. Faces the opposite sex this time but should figure prominently
10. ECHO DE LARRE - Good class of colt that set his personal best going right-handed. Starts on the back line but a major player all the same
Summary With four straight wins to his name and breaking from the front (3) ELVIS DU VALLON appears eminently capable of maintaining his unbeaten status. He will be directly opposed though by the very useful (10) ECHO DE LARRE despite starting 25m worse off. (6) EPONA DE DAIDOU has demonstrated fine consistency under harness and should again figure prominently. (9) ECLIPSE DREAM won a G.III before being trounced in better company earlier in the month but the drop in class will stand her in good stead.

2. BRUNE DES FORGES - Regularly in the thick of things and currently in good shape. Benefits from a front-line start and looks a player
3. ULTIMO DU DOUET - Seldom seen at this level of competition and while no slouch still looks outclassed
4. CANTIN DE L'ECLAIR - One of the most consistent horses here and winner of his last three. Won over the distance last time here and from the front line is eminently capable of making it four-in-a-row
5. URUS - Moderate trotter that has been found wanting recently and can expect to find this a stiff test
6. VENICIO POMMEREUX - Barring latest Le mans effort has been very solid and from the front line could scrape his way into the money
7. UN SATIN ROSE - Pleasant sort but well beaten in his last four and will struggle to make any impact
8. VICTORIA DU VIADUC - Gives a good account for the most part and most recently in a Class D at Vincennes but steps up in category and will need to be at her best
9. VIOLINE MOUROTAISE - Fine mare that has nothing to prove at this level. Has good finishing speed and should turn the tables on Tiger Danover who beat her at Le Mans earlier in the month
10. VENUS DE BAILLY - Fine campaigner that has form at a better level but in this competitive event is no more than a minor place chance
11. VASCO DE VIETTE - Blows hot and cold but has won two of his last three and must be respected
12. UNERO MONTAVAL - Impressive since early July and although not having won recently has more than once been on the cusp and could have his way
13. ANETTE DU MIREL - Endured a very unrewarding winter and spring. Has not been seen out since May and will have nothing to offer
14. VULCANIA DE GODREL - Good class of trotter that returned to winning ways at Craon early September and a similar performance should see her in the mix at the finish
15. URSA MAJOR - Has done nothing of note for the past six months and can be written off
16. TALLIEN - Hardy veteran that regularly shows a lack of discipline but still going strong and with application can make his presence felt
17. ULTIMATE DU RIB - Encouraged twice in July but unplaced in last three and not an obvious choice
18. TIGER DANOVER - Got back in the game when winning a similar event at Le Mans three weeks ago but incurs a 50m penalty this time which should prove too much
Summary One of the more competitive of the GNT editions this year on paper. (4) CANTIN DE L'ECLAIR has won six of his last eight and latterly in good style. He breaks from the front and may just have the edge over the excellent (12) UNERO MONTAVAL who has finished bridesmaid in four of his last five. When applied (9) VIOLINE MOUROTAISE is very hard to fault and the nature of her recent Le Mans performance will have earned her more support. (2) BRUNE DES FORGES incurs no penalty here and must be worth consideration, and so too should recent Craon winner (14) VULCANIA DE GODREL even though she races with a handicap.

3. VINCI DU MACHEREL - Has enjoyed a very rewarding summer. Breaks from the front here and with shoes off will justifiably garner support
4. BOLIDE GO - Delicate but in the frame in the last two he has finished. Tough ask all the same
5. ALDO DU FRUITIER - Has been hard to knock in the amateur category this summer and his consistency will stand him in good stead
6. AUDACIEUX LUDOIS - Has won six of his last eleven races at this level. In better company this time but incurs no penalty and must not be overlooked
7. A JET SPORT - Back at the top of his game with two straight wins. Changes surface but starts in front and must be afforded respect
8. VELVET DU CAMP - Out of the first three for the past 13 months and even with hind shoes off offers little hope
9. ADELE DE BOISNEY - Won nicely at Vincennes before losing his win in the stewards' room at Le Mans three weeks ago. On similar form can wrap this up
10. ULYSSE DU CAMPDOS - Intermittent but still very useful. On the second line but one to note all the same
11. URANIUM DU CALICE - Modest type that has done nothing noteworthy all year and can be written off
12. ATOME DE L'ORMEAU - Has finished in the frame just once this year and cannot be expected to shake things up
13. USTIN DE LITTRY - Excellent at this level but has raced just once this year and not a realistic proposition
14. ULF HAIE NEUVE - Hardy sort that has never disappointed at Lisieux. Goes barefoot for the occasion and looks a serious contender
15. UNIX DES FORGES - Not the horse he used to be after returning from a lengthy absence and will struggle to make his presence felt
16. VAL THOURJAN - Acquits himself solidly for the most part. Drops back in class and looks a respectable place chance

(9) ADELE DE BOISNEY had her victory harshly taken away from her at Le Mans earlier in the month to deny her two on the trot but all going smoothly she should make this her own. She can nonetheless expect to encounter resistance from (14) ULF HAIE NEUVE who has nothing to prove at Lisieux. (1) BETWEEN has been as solid as a rock lately and again looks a player. (16) VAL THOURJAN is well-in here and will have the measure of many, but Foiret will still need to be wary of the handy (3) VINCI DU MACHEREL who starts 25m better off.

3. AULBIAC DE RHUYS - Tends to show more at a lower level and latest efforts do nothing to inspire trust
4. ALTAYA DE DALINE - Has looked very ordinary for the past 14 months and can be ruled out
5. BEL CANTO - On top form in the other code but seldom leaves his mark in this discipline and poses no danger
6. VAS Y SEUL - Pleased late last year but has since lost his way and can be passed over
7. AFRIKANDER - Not always the most reliable but will be partnered by a serious driver here and could yet get a look in
8. ATALANTE ATOUT - Considerably better trotter under the saddle and has no realistic chance
9. BOHEME DE BOUERE - Has turned a corner over the past month with two wins from her last three. Starts in front this time and can expect to generate interest
10. BODEGA CHENEVIERE - Surprise winner at Graignes earlier in the month but a repeat highly unlikely
11. PICARD DEL RONCO - Well-beaten in all eight since moving to France and can expect no support
12. ALEXIS JISCE - Well-regarded sort and currently in good shape. Below-par at Chateaubriant last time but Raffin at the helm on this occasion and should redeem himself
13. PSYCHO - Not as rewarding since leaving Sweden but drops back in class and will have his supporters
14. BIG HEADACHE - Speedy sort that seldom lets the side down. Surprisingly sanctioned at Reims last time but should make amends and bounce back with another big effort
15. VALMAYOR - Completely off the boil all year and even though fresh from a spell will have nothing to give
16. ALADIN DU DOLLAR - Has begun to get back into the game. Pleased at Strasbourg three weeks ago and despite the penalty can still make the first five
17. BALZAC DE L'ITON - Good dual-purpose sort that has raced just three times this year. Makes his seasonal comeback and unlikely to shake things up
18. ALTESSE BLUE - Has shown a completely different side to herself this year and has won six of her last eight. Missed out by little at Vire two weeks ago and again looks dangerous
Summary After two comeback starts the hardy (2) SCHUBERT is ideally engaged on the front line. He benefits from a Nivard drive this time and can impose if he can get off on the right foot. (14) BIG HEADACHE may be 25m worse off but he has been very hard to knock for some time and can give the favourite something to consider. (18) ALTESSE BLUE has hardly set a foot wrong all year and is not incapable of winning from the second line. With Raffin reining (12) ALEXIS JISCE this time he must be considered a solid place chance. (16) ALADIN DU DOLLAR has shown solid improvement and can put on a good show.

5. BELLE DE VARVILLE - Modest recent form and needs to make vast improvement to play role
6. BROUTILLE - Not sighted on comeback run at Pornichet and has plenty to find
7. BELLA DE FORCE - Cannot be worth much consideration on paper and easily passed over
8. BERNARDO DU BOULAY - Has long been struggling with form and cannot be worth much consideration
9. BAMBINA FORTUNA - Finished fourth in a Quinte at Vincennes last Friday and has strong claims on the back of this effort
10. BALADE DANOVER - Capable sort in amateur races but has a few lengths to find to feature in a contest of this nature
11. BOURBONNE MESANGE - Showed significant progress on second start back from a break and should be in the mix with further improvement
12. BABETTE DE BANNES - Won two identical races this season and has to be respected
13. BELLO DE CELINIERE - Running well on turf since the new year but will find it tougher back on sand here
14. BAMBOU TAHITI - Firing on all cylinders since back in action this year and likely to go close
15. BIG KAISER - Has two races under his belt and front shoes come off so best to monitor closely
16. BISCUIT - Ran better than placing suggests at Laval last time out and could be the surprise package in this race
Summary
Without front shoes today and having two runs under his belt at present, (15) BIG KAISER must be close to his peak form and is expected to give a good account of himself. (14) BAMBOU TAHITI is lightly-raced and extremely consistent. He still has plenty of improvement to offer and looks the main danger to the selection. (12) BABETTE DE BANNES never finishes far from the action and has to be respected too.

6. CAID DE BENGALE - Won a class B at Vincennes last winter. Has three races under his belt and must be respected on return to ridden racing
7. ALIVE MADRIK - Cannot be worth any consideration on form and easily passed over
8. ULYSSE D'HAVANE - Returns from a 587 days break and likely to need the race
9. VEGAS D'AMOS - Good last run in this discipline at Argentan and cannot be discounted
10. TEMPETE ETERNELLE - Going through a rough patch and possibly best to pass over
11. AMAZONE DU MONT - Has shaped up nicely in a harness contest for this and must be respected
12. TOUT VA BIEN - Capable sort when he can keep within the rules. Very performing over righ-handed courses and things augur well for today
13. AMARILLA DE RABUT - Very smart performer in harness racing but has been struggling this year. Won one from two under the saddle thus far
14. TAJ MAHAL D'OMBREE - Capable sort when in the mood. Finished third on sole start over course and distance last November
15. AND GIBUS - Has done nothing noticeable since May last year and looks hard to retain
16. UHENDO RIVELLIERE - Won a class D at Cordemais last March but has been out of form since then
17. UNIVERS SOLAIRE - Much improved last run when third in a class A on turf but faces a totally different assignment today
Summary A winner of eleven races last year, (13) AMARILLA DE RABUT has not been the same this season but the change of discipline could be the answer as she already won under the saddle in the past. If capable of keeping his stride all way round, (12) TOUT VA BIEN should be in the final shake-up. Associated with Eric Raffin and unshod on all four, (6) CAID DE BENGALE requires monitoring on return to his preferred discipline.

Summary (17) DERBY BOX has been at the top of his game in recent weeks and although going shod still looks a solid pick. He can however expect resistance from the reinvigorated (14) DJUMBO VOLO who also remains shod for the occasion. The talented (13) DANAE DE CORBERY has just one race under her belt this term but is expected to show improvement and should not be far off the mark. 4. DESTINEE PIYA - Filly with ample ability. Has just one race in her this year but goes barefoot for the first time and the 25m advantage can only work in her favour
5. DUTIFUL - Pleased in two of his last three but found wanting at Vichy and needs to show more
6. DOCEANE DU BOCAGE - Consistently gives her best on the track. Pleased at Cabourg last time and comes here fresh and with a reasonable place chance
7. DIVA DE L'ITON - Looked decent last year but disappointing since her return and must reaffirm
8. DEDE DRIVER - Has looked rather ordinary for some months and can be passed over
9. DELTA TURGOT - Gives a decent account for the most part and although stepping up in class should make the most of her front-line start
10. DALUNA DE TILOU - Has never established her credentials at Lisieux and the extra 25m does nothing to help her plight
11. DORIS JENILOU - Consistently acquits herself well when applied. Won over track and trip first time out this year and can justifiably expect support
12. DOLINA DES PLAINES - Not the easiest to gauge at the moment. Won two before failing to place twice. If on form though she can leave her mark
13. DOLCE VITA FOLLE - Very delicate sort but still capable of going home with a small cheque if she can keep her action together
14. DESIREE STAR - Hardy individual whose form is sure. Starts on the back line but will have her supporters
15. DUNE DE L'AUNAY - Very useful sort but has not been seen out since February and will need the run
16. DALSHIM DU NOYER - Appears to have got back in the game. Gave a decent account at Bernay last time and should be good enough to make the frame
17. DANCE ROCK - Very seductive winner at Cabourg last time out. Won two from three when unshod behind and with application will be hard to beat
18. DIVA DU VERGER - Useful sort that finished a place behind Dalshim Du Noyer at Bernay but is shod this time and not an obvious choice
Summary (17) DANCE ROCK's recent Cabourg victory was particularly eye-catching and with a similar effort should wrap this up. (4) DESTINEE PIYA showed significant talent last year and although having raced just once since November she is well-placed in front and with shoes off for the first time must be respected. (16) DALSHIM DU NOYER is back on track and should not be far from the action, but he can expect to feel some pressure from the consistently hardy (11) DORIS JENILOU, and the delicate but talented (3) DETONANTE who breaks 25m to the better.

8. CANDIDO GES - Blows hot and cold but encouraged at Le Mont-Saint-Michel earlier in the month and will be one to watch
9. CALL BOY DANOVER - Delicate but has ample talent. Backs up after just four days and if behaved can make the most of his front line break
10. CESARIO BELLO - Has been racing very smartly since the summer and judging by his performance at Vichy last week will not be far off the mark
11. CICERO FACE - Hardy sort and although unplaced in two of his last three goes barefoot this time and should confirm his form here earlier in the year
12. COOKIE JIEL - Very consistent for the most part but not as effective in last two and the 25m penalty will not help his cause
13. CAMPISTRON - Serious horse going right-handed and superb at Vincennes recently. Is confirmed at the venue and can play a leading role
14. CHEIKH DE RETZ - Pleased on return to competition but form regressing and will need to step up his game
15. CLOVIS MONTAVAL - Won three of his last six. Returns to racing clockwise and can play a major role
16. CHERI MAMOUR JARL - Not the most productive of trotters and returns to harness racing with little to offer
17. CAUZIKI DU RIB - Mixes the good with the less good but ability is not in doubt and should not be far from the action
18. CESAR LA MESANGE - Has enjoyed a rewarding run since returning to
racing unshod but shoes on this time and others preferred
Summary (13) CAMPISTRON has been on flying form since the spring. He left quite the impression at Vincennes earlier in the month and returns to racing right-handed with every chance of imposing. If (17) CAUZIKI DU RIB can reproduce his penultimate effort he should be able to give the favourite a run for his money. Barring his recent clinker in Paris (15) CLOVIS MONTAVAL has been enjoying a fruitful run and must be considered a major player. (11) CICERO FACE returns barefoot to a track he appreciates and can get a look in, as can (10) CESARIO BELLO given how well he acquitted himself at Vichy last time out.

Summary A faller here last time out (3) VISION DU PONT was only beaten a nose by the recent Grade Three winner Izzo in a Listed hurdle at Compiegne back in May.
