People’s Republic of ChinaBachelors degrees awarded according to the Regulations Concerning Academic Degrees of the People’sRepublic of China requiring 4 or more years of full time study (gained in or after 1982) are assessed asoccupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

All Masters degrees (other than Master of Business Administration), awarded according to the RegulationsConcerning Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China (gained in or after 1984) are assessed asoccupying Level 9 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 55 points provided the holder of thequalification also obtained their undergraduate (Bachelors) degree from an institution included on the List ofRecognised Qualifications. If the Masters degree is not preceded by an undergraduate degree from aninstitution included on the List of Recognised Qualifications it is assessed as occupying Level 7 of theRegister and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Honours degrees awarded according to the Regulations Concerning Academic Degrees of the People’sRepublic of China are assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Graduate and postgraduate diplomas and Masters of Business Administration require a NZQA assessment forpoints allocation.

Note: All Bachelors and Masters degrees issued in the People’s Republic of China after 1984 must be endorsed“Awarded according to the Regulations Concerning Academic Degrees in the People’s Republic of China”.

Bachelors degrees requiring 3 or more years of full time study from the institutions listed in Group “A” areassessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Bachelors degrees requiring 3 or more years of full time study awarded in the First or Second Division orClass from the institutions listed in Group “B” are assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and willtherefore qualify for 50 points.

Masters degrees and PhDs from institutions in Group “A” and Group “B” are assessed as occupying Level 9or 10 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 55 points, provided the holder of the qualification alsoobtained their undergraduate (Bachelors) degree from an institution included in one of the two groups. If theMasters degree is not preceded by an undergraduate degree from an institution listed in one of the twogroups, it is assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Honours degrees from the listed institutions are assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and willtherefore qualify for 50 points.
