I have been actively involved in the identi fication, documentation of attributes of the Nowrouz , compi ling their safeguarding plan and preparation of its nomination tile. As I indicated in my book entitled "Nowrouz is a holiday of the Turkmen people'' this event combines common cultural values of submitting countries including traditions, rituals, traditional knowledge and therefore its inclusion in the UNESCCYs Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity " ·ill promote further strengthening of friendship and cultural ties bet\\ een peoples of abon~mentioned countries.

I. Muhammetmyrat Gapurow have taken part in the preparation of the main sections of multinational nomination fil e of "Norouz" as a scholar in the field of traditional folklore. Traditions and ri tuals of the Nowrouz celebration and its cultural values concentrate the deep roots of cultures of the region. Inscription of the celebration in the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will facilitate its recognition at the local and international levels. It also will encourage to study in-depth and safeguarding of intangible cultural values of the Novvrouz by the youngest generation as an important part of their national heritage.

Nowrouz marks beginning of the Spring and respect to the nature is expressed during its celebration through various traditions, rituals, traditional games and trad itional music and songs. These traditions and rituals have reached us from ancestors by their transmission from generation to generation during the millennium. At present all components of the celebration are being transmitted to future generation with efforts of people of different ages.

I am being a deputy director of scientific and methodological Department of the Turkmenistan Culture Center was engaged with the study of national games for a long time period and therefore I have been involved in the identification. documentation of traditional games, development of their safeguarding measures in the preparation of the nomination tile of Nowrouz.

The Nowrouz celebration is marked beginning of Spring and it is a determination time for agricultural works. It is also promotes the expectations for abundance of forthcoming harvest as \Yell as mutual understanding for strengthening of the peace and t~unily ties.

We are being farmers-bearers and practitioners of agricultural tradition and rituals of the Nowrouz celebration in Turkmenistan transmit our experience to the youngest generation and all interested participants by organizing of agricultural production t~1 irs during the event.

We have taken actively part by contributing in the identification, documentation of traditions of cooking of dishes from local cereals and compiling of the safeguarding plan in the preparation of nomination tile of Nowrouz.

Decision of the participants of the Round Table discussion "On the support of submission of the nomination file of the "Nowrouz" for inclusion on the "Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity"

We, scholars, specialists and experts in the field of Turkmen intangible cultural heritage, the undersigned participants of the present Round Table have decided the following:

1. We fully support the initiative "On the submission of the nomination fi le of the "Nowrouz" for inclusion on the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" as a multinational file being submitted by Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Its inclusion on the List will promote enrichment of world cultural diversity and safeguarding of other fields of the rich intangible heritage of the region.

2. We also fu lly support all items of the safeguarding measures proposed (3.b. of the nomination file) for the element taking into consideration the role of the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a tool for increasing of understanding of the importance of the intangible heritage, for strengthening of intercultural dialogue and promoting and safeguarding this heritage.
