The plantsin Frosinone and Patrica have also been awarded the Quality, Environment and SafetyIntegrated System certification and are certified in compliance with the BS 8800 Stan-dards for health and safety in the workplace.

IntroductionUnderfloor distribution, a safe andconvenient choice
Electrical distribution withunderfloor trunking systems isa convenient andadvantageous solution,especially for the workingenvironments of the servicesindustry.In offices, shops and any otherenvironments where numerousconnections to the supplymains are required, the systemdesign must often allow forrestricted space and aestheticnecessities.In such situations, traditionalor raised floors must besuitably equipped to hold evenvery complex electricalinstallations. While they arewell protected, concealed andnicely hidden away, the cablesare at the same time easilyaccessible from the surface,by means of trunking, floorboxes, junction anddistribution boxes and othervisible distributioncomponents.The underfloor trunking mayalso contain data, telephoneand audiovisual signaltransmission installations etc.,for an even more rationalizedsystem layout.
What ABB SACE has toofferDuring the fitting of underfloordistribution plants, the installerwill find the wide range of ABBSACE trunking productsextremely useful.For traditional floors, theScattoplast system is the bestchoice, given the fact that itboasts a wide field ofapplication. In one singleinstallation, both single anddouble-compartmenttrunkings may be joined,provided with an internalseparator to divide differentcircuits; the single-compartment version isavailable in the dimensions W60 and 70 mm x H 30 mm x L300, 450 and 600 mm, whilethe double-compartmenttrunking is supplied with W 70and 95 mm.Depending on the systemconfiguration, the trunkingmay be supplied with riserbends, rigid or flexible joints,boxes and other junctionelements.In compliance with therelevant safety prescriptionsand in particular CEI 64-8Standard, all Scattoplastcomponents are made of self-extinguishing thermoplasticmaterial; the color is RAL9016 white or RAL 1018yellow. Mounting is easy,rapid, and risk-free, thanks tothe accurate fabrication ofeach single piece.
ABB SACEs product rangefor raised floors is just asflexible, and is suitable for theinstallation of mixed systems.The system includes self-extinguishing thermoplastictrunkings of RAL 9016 whitecolor with circular trimmings atthe sides to facilitate theconnection of corrugated

conduits of a diameter rangingfrom 20 mm to 32 mm; thedimensions are W 100 and200 mm x H 60 mm x L 2000mm.The trunkings can be suppliedwith junction boxes, bends,end caps and joint covers.The system may also beintegrated with sheet steeltrunkings treated with hot dipsendzimir galvanization: theyare available in the dimensionsW 100, 150, 200, 300, 400and 500 mm x H 50 mm x L3000, and may be suppliedwith 90 and 45 flat corner,couplers, joints, separators,boxes and elements, bymeans of which any type ofcorrugated conduit or sheathwith a diameter ranging from16 mm to 40 mm may beshunted.The protection degree againstpenetration of solid bodiesand liquids is IP40 for allplastic and metalcomponents.The ABB SACE trunkingsystems for both raised andtraditional floors are
connectable to surfacedistribution components.In particular, Lusy floor boxesmay be added, holding 4wiring units each; a lampindicating the position of thefloor box when the lights areout is fixed to the front, whichmay be tilted at variousangles. The IMQ markconfirms that all ABB floorboxes conform to CEI 23-73Standard.The Undernet floor boxes aredesigned to contain 12-20wiring units and devices ininstallations for both raisedand traditional floors: theprotection degree between theUndernet boxes and the floorcorresponds to IP52. Thedesign of the Lusy floor boxesmakes them modern pieces ofequipment, while the lid of theUndernet floor boxes, made ofstainless steel or to becovered with carpet andlinoleum, makes themadaptable to all kinds ofenvironments.

Sockets2P+E 10-16 A plug versions for 250V lines areavailable in Italian and German standards, with safetyscreens and side/central earth.The range also includes standard European andAmerican razor sockets, SELV sockets for very lowvoltage safety utilities and other special sockets.Various types of connectors for telephone and datatransmission applications are available complyingwith the most frequently used and advancedinternational wiring standards.
Control devicesCircuit breakers, push buttons, switches, inverters,relays and change-over switches in different versionsto configure utility functions and control points in themost flexible and suitable way for each residential andworking context.The range includes devices with warning lights toindicate the status of the controlled utilities or fornight-time localizations; articles fitted with a key makeit possible to limit their usage according to specificconditions.The torpedo and ampoule-shaped bulbs for warninglight devices must be ordered separately.
Key-coversTo identify available functions and connected utilitieswith different symbols.These are used to replace the standard keyssupplied with control devices.In 1 and 1/2 module versions.
Protection devicesThese come into action in the event of overloads,short circuits, power surges and other phenomenathat are hazardous for the users and prevent theconnected utilities from functioning correctly. Theyprovide protection directly downstream withoutinterfering with the power supply to other points onthe electric plant. Warning devicesWarning lights to indicate the functioning status ofconnected utilities, bells and buzzers (also available inone single device). The path light is used as acourtesy light to illuminate pedestrian paths andareas, for example corridors, garages, cellars etc.The torpedo and ampoule-shaped bulbs fitted to thewarning lights must be ordered separately.
Plate materials, colors and finisheslos Soft plates are available in metal andtechnopolymer with a glossy finish and also in themica-color version; the metal plates are also suppliedwith special surface treatments (glossy chrome,brushed steel and natural zama).los Smart plates are made in technopolymer, withmica-color versions and a satin finish.A 3-module plate measures 121 x 86 x 14 mm forthe los Soft and 119 x 88 x 13 mm for the losSmart.
Installation componentsHole-covers for unused modules and 3, 4, 6, 8 and12-module supports for installing devices andcomponents in rectangular flush-mounting boxes.

Connection withcorrugated conduitTo remove the punched plate, simplypush against them decisively with ahammer or screwdriver handle.
Using cable gland code 00 912guarantees a protection degree ofIP40, and it is required for connecting 16-32 mm corrugated conduits. 40 mm corrugated conduits can beconnected without using a cablegland, with a protection degree ofIP30.
Cut the cable gland according to thediameter of the corrugated conduit tobe connected.
Finish the installation by inserting thecorrugated conduit.

Mounting examplesPlastic trunking systems
Fixing the plastic trunkingswith circular trimmings tothe floorThanks to the long slots, the universalsupports (codes 06 665 and 06 667)can be anchored to the floor by meansof the most common fixing systems(dowels, nails etc.).Using support H 48 mm (code 06667), it is possible to pass hydraulicsystems underneath the trunkings.
Using support H 25 mm (code 06665), it is possible to pass corrugatedor rigid conduits with a of up to 25mm underneath the trunkings.
The plastic trunkings may be fixed tothe universal supports by means of aself-tapping screw, using a commonscrewer. Alternatively, the trunkingmay be fastened by means of bi-adhesive tape or glues suitable forplastic and metal.
