Litas MagazineBy Scarlett Miller
My brief
“You have been commissioned by the northern
echo to produce a new magazine or newspaper
product. Your product could be in any style or
genre but it must be self financed through sales
or advertising. You must also product your
magazine for a specified audience segment
within 16-25 age group.”
How I intend to meet the brief
In order to meet the brief I ensured that I created a magazine idea
which;
Suited ABC1 in the North East
High quality magazine
Interest the target audience age of 16-25 and which is suitable
Twist and USP
Successful magazine which is self financed through advertising and
sales
Why Fashion/Women’s Lifestyle
Deep interest in fashion and styling, DIY culture
Including a women’s lifestyle aspect to the magazine therefore
making it a hybrid, to make it more unique and have a better USP
Read a lot of fashion and women’s lifestyle magazines therefore I
know what they include, so can bring fresh ideas to the market
My Aims
Create an inspirational fashion magazine for young budding fashion
lovers
Cover both designer and high street trends and items to ensure the
whole audience is catered for and feels comfortable reading the
magazine
Create a twist on the usual high fashion hybrid magazines
Emphasize the use and publicity of DIY Culture
USP & Gap in the Market

Trendies

Things to consider
Secondary audience will include readers of the Northern Echo,
parents, siblings and people in the fashion/beauty industry. In order
to keep the secondary target audience happy I must ensure;

No false information
Briefing my idea
• First mock up opening page better
• Second mock up article page better

Mock ups
Mock ups
1
Mock Up 1 Feedback
POSITIVE FEEDBACK; NEGATIVE FEEDBACK;
1. Image layout suits target
audience and attracts the eye
2. Pink accents work well and
make certain information
more eye catching
3. Countdown numbers on right
page are a good distraction
1. Text and images are
scattered, makes it look
like a cheaper produced
magazine
2. Not lots of text, can be
classed as good or bad
3. Images on right page look
like they don’t belong there
Mock ups

Mock up 2 Feedback
1. Colour scheme works well
2. Left page looks professional,
interesting banner layout
3. Headers and sub headers on
right page look professional
and well thought
1. Images need fitting properly,
looks cheaper produced due
to the images
2. Right page looks like there is
missing information
3. Lack of images on right side
POSITIVE FEEDBACK; NEGATIVE FEEDBACK;
Name
Good length, short and catchy, like Elle, Vogue and Look
Not described / unknown word, no real meaning, therefore isn't
linked to any particular style/genre
Looks like a high end fashion magazine name
Not an obvious name
