Literary Royal Meg Cabot Featured Author at LitLUNCH! in February Ladies…it’s time to dust off your tiaras! This year, Meg Cabot, bestselling author of the Princess Diaries and Mediator series, is our guest author at LitLUNCH! This event is the kick-off to Literary Feast 2016. Pencil us in on Friday, February 5th at 11:15 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six’s Pier Top restaurant. A prolific writer, Meg has published nearly 80 books and sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Her latest book, Royal Wedding, is the 11th installment in her Princess Diaries series, and was written for adults. The relationship between Kate Middleton and Prince William provided the story’s inspiration as Meg considered how the couple handled constant media speculation about their engagement and later, their wedding. Princess Diana’s role as a public influencer also inspired the author. In addition to the Princess Diaries series, Meg writes the Mediator series for adults, which features the heroine Suze Simon as a young woman who can communicate with the dead. Gov. Lurleen Wallace Focus Of Book With Brunch

A biography of Alabama Gov. Lurleen Wallace is the subject of the Jan. 12 Book With Brunch. Judge Janice Law has written American Evita: Lurleen Wallace, weaving together the stories of two strong women who were thrust into the political arena and dealt with serious emotional and health-related issues.

Law, a founder of the American Women Writers National Museum in Washington, D.C., will speak, sell and sign her book at this event, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale (1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard). It is a benefit to Foundation members at the $50 level and above; nonmembers may attend by paying a $25 non-refundable fee in advance. Please call 954.357.7382 to make your reservation. Seating is limited to the first 50 registrants.

Three Join BPLF BoardAt the Oct. 7 Broward Public Library Foundation Annual

Meeting, three Broward residents were welcomed onto the Board of Directors.

Mario M. Cartaya is a second-generation leader of the Fort Lauderdale architectural firm, Cartaya and Associates, where as president he has been in charge of all business-related aspects of the firm since 2011. His father, Mario Cartaya, founded the firm in 1979. He and his wife Yuleiny, who live in Sea Ranch Lakes, were Literary Feast 2015 dinner hosts. Mario also sits on the Board of Directors for the Parks Foundation of Broward County and has been active in the Broward County Gator Club and Broward Young Democrats.

Sean Chari, a resident of South Florida since 2011, lives in Pembroke Pines with his wife, Scheila, and children, Sebastian and Sophia. He is the IT Consulting Senior Manager at Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors and Accountants, where he co-leads providing business consulting services, helping organizations achieve operational excellence by aligning personnel, processes and technology to operational and strategic objectives. Fluent in Spanish, he has worked and lived internationally, from Saudi Arabia to Costa Rica. Sean has been actively involved as a Big Brother (Big Brother & Sisters) for over 12 years.

Marisol Levin, who was born and raised in Miami, lives in Coral Springs with her husband, David Levin and daughters Savannah and Sydney. She is a Senior Marketing Coordinator at Bohler Engineering, overseeing marketing efforts in the Florida and Carolina regions. Bohler has been in business for over 30 years and offers services including land development, civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture. She is a member of Leadership Broward’s Emerge Broward group for young professionals.

Completing their terms of office were Board Treasurer Craig Farlie, former Board Chair Christy Lambertus and former Literary Feast co-chair Joi Freeman.
