Thanksgiving Thanksgiving (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Thanksgiving is a holiday in the USA and Canada when people give thanks. It is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November in the USA and on the second Monday of October in Canada. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln set aside the last Thursday of November as a national Day of Thanksgiving. American immigrants brought the customs and practices of the American Thanksgiving to Canada, beginning on April 5, 1872. The United States Congress permanently established the fourth Thursday of each November as a national holiday in the year 1941, and Canadian Parliament later established the second Monday of each October as a national holiday in the year 1957. The First Thanksgiving Although not as famous, the first "day of Thanksgiving" actually took place at Berkeley Hundred, Virginia in 1619 - a year before the Mayflower brought the Pilgrims to Massachusetts. The Pilgrims were early settlers on the east coast of North America. They traveled from England on a ship called the Mayflower and made their new home in what is now Plymouth, Massachusetts, 380 km northeast of what is now New York. Many of the Pilgrims died during their first winter in North America. They were cold and did not have enough food. The following year, though, the Native Americans, who were from the Wampanoag tribe, helped them grow crops. At harvest time in the winter of 1621, they were very thankful that they had a good crop of food to eat during the coming winter. They thanked God and the Native Americans for teaching them how to grow the local foods. Ghosts in the Station: Halloween Party 2014Ghosts in the Station: Halloween Party 2014

This year’s Halloween party was like ghosts in the station. On October29th we had the Halloween party. We went to Mitaka Station. Sena, Takami, Aoi, Kakyo, Sena’smom, my mom, and I drove in my car. The first reason I thought Halloween party was like ghosts in the station is that everybody

screamed near the station. We were running, and also talking loudly. The second reason is that everyone wore some scary costumes. Especially Rino’s one was the

scariest. I thought everybody around us thought that we were crazy. The third reason is for some reason there were many birds around station. So we tried to

catch birds. However it was impossible. I thought this is scary because there were many birds with no reason.

At last, we sang, we ate, we talked, and we danced in the school. Now there were ghosts in the school. I got hundreds of snacks. My bag was full of snack and heavy.

Scary and Fun Camp Scary and Fun Camp –– Outdoor CampOutdoor Camp

My scary and fun three days started on October 22nd. This year’s camp was so enjoyable, because we could go in a hot bath, and could eat delicious meals.

On the first day I met all my friends at the main campus. The bus was so goudy. I didn’t like it. When I arrived at Chichibu I first went into my room. It was so huge. I went to Furusato Mura, and made teams, a flag, and team chant.

On the second day morning I made curry for my team mates. My curry was a little spicy. Junjiand my curry were chosen as the best curry. I got fifty points for my team. After we ate curry the forth, and fifth graders made a bow and arrow for archery. It looked easy to make nevertheless it was difficult making it. It was really difficult playing it. It was amazing that I could hit close to the bull’s eye.

On the second night we had a Camp Fire. All the teams sang songs. Our team decided to sing “Happy Together”. If the teachers chose our team as the best we could get100points. The results were announced on the next day. We got one hundred points. Everyone was glad. I roasted marshmallows for John. After everyone except the fourth and fifth graders were gone we heard three scary stories. Jumpei’s story was the scariest. Asuka and Hinata cried while listening to John’s story. It was the best time at camp.

On the first and second days we went to the gym and had team competitions. On the first day we won a lot of points because Shimon did a good job. On the second day we played a miming game. I got just one point when I guested the last mime. The most interesting things I did at camp was making flags, archery, and cooking curry. The favorite thing was finding leaves.

On the way back I couldn’t sleep in the bus. I played cards and kept winning. At the store I bought an earphone jack for my dad, talisman for my mom, and yakitori for myself. When I met my mom I was overjoyed. This year’s camp was very enjoyable.

Sports Day 2014Sports Day 2014

My energy was limited during the sports day, because I got tired doing many sports. The students were divided into the team “Fire” and “Water”. I was on the “Fire” team. We did entrance ceremony. I was using an instrument called “cornet”. We also did exercise. My energy was going up by doing yoga, and exercises.

At the beginning of the first game, I felt very strong. However, soon it began to reduce little by little. My first game was rolling ball. In all the matches I beat the rival team. In addition I also did one more game. In this game each team had to collect as many balls as possible in a limited time.

The obstacle race was running down to hell, because my power was reducing. Moreover the obstacles were difficult. I also watched higher grader’s running the obstacle race. While watching, I was resting on the rocky place. We cheered and I felt recharged once again.

During the tug of war. My energy was completely gone. Therefore probably my team lost, because I didn’t do my best. On the other hand, my team won the adult`s tug of war. The moms and dads also, looked like they used up their energy.

We lost against the “Water” in the relay. However we beat “Water” in the final score. I touched the golden trophy. It was wonderful. Soon I went back home with my dad. When I got home I quickly went to the refrigerator and searched for water, sadly there was no water so I cried, because I was exhausted.

Next year I want to be the captain and destroy the rival team. The reason is because I don’t want to see my team mates crying. I also have one more reason it’s, because I want to touch the golden trophy again.
