Liturgical Calendar, Mass Intentions, and Readings From the Pastors Desk The Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time October 4, 2020 Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Today our Church celebrates the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. Today is also the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, who founded what has become known as the Franciscan Orders. All of this took place over 800 years ago. Happy Feast Day to all of our Franciscan parishioners! You may have noticed we have signs on the parish grounds that proclaim Choose Life! For us Catholics, this mean that all lives are holy, and therefore, sacred. The question of Why are all lives holy and sacred? can be answered: because we are all made in the “Imago Dei,” the image of God. Both the 2020 census and the 2020 election are now upon us. I am amazed how some people believe that if they don’t think about these issues, they just don’t exist. WRONG!!! These issues are real! They are happening now, with or without you! As citizens of the United States of America, as active, fully functioning Catholics, you have a civil and moral duty and an obligation to participate in these processes. Please stand up, be counted, and do your civic duty. The focus of the readings today tells us that God calls us to bear good fruit and be good stewards of his vineyard. Let us keep each other in our prayers. Dear Brothers and Sisters in the

Lord,

Today our Church celebrates the

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary

Time. Today is also the feast day of

St. Francis of Assisi, who founded

what has become known as the

Franciscan Orders. All of this took

place over 800 years ago. Happy Feast

Day to all of our Franciscan

parishioners!

You may have noticed we have

signs on the parish grounds that

proclaim Choose Life! For us Catholics,

this mean that all lives are holy, and

therefore, sacred. The question of

Why are all lives holy and sacred? can be

answered: because we are all made in

the “Imago Dei,” the image of God.

Both the 2020 census and the

2020 election are now upon us. I am

amazed how some people believe

that if they don’t think about these

issues, they just don’t exist.

WRONG!!! These issues are real!

They are happening now, with or

without you! As citizens of the

United States of America, as active,

fully functioning Catholics, you have

a civil and moral duty and an

obligation to participate in these

processes. Please stand up, be

counted, and do your civic duty.

The focus of the readings today

tells us that God calls us to bear good

fruit and be good stewards of his

vineyard.

Let us keep each other in our

prayers.

Yours in Christ,

Belonging to the Kingdom of God!

Although the parable today is

about who properly oversees the work

of the Kingdom of God, we can easily

shift the focus to who belongs within it

and how must those who belong

behave. This includes every one of

us. Saint Paul provides this helpful list

of suitable actions. Do what is

truthful, honorable, just, pure, lovely,

and gracious. He ends with, “Keep on

doing what you have learned and

received and heard.”

• What truth that needs telling will I

speak this week?

• What just thing will I think and

then do?

St. Vincent de Paul Weekly Reflection The good news of this Gospel is that all we need to

do is let God tend us and bring us to produce good

fruit. All we need do is be faithful; God will take care

of the rest. Please help the Society of St. Vincent de

Paul to bring the love and mercy of Jesus to those

who feel left out and abandoned. As a volunteer with

SVDP, you can help others in a way that will fit into your busy life. Vincentians

are volunteers who are people just like you from all walks of life—those who

want to help their community by giving their and talent for the greater good.

Please call Robert or Felicia Johnson (513) 254-0471) or Linda Knight (513-344-

The Catholic Way to Vote We are called to live our

faith in all aspects of our

lives, but – when it comes to

voting – this can be difficult. Over the next several weeks, immerse yourself in

the Church’s teaching and gain a fuller understanding of the Church’s

commitment to a consistent ethic of life which guides us to be advocates for a

variety of issues related to life and human dignity. Go to https://

ivotecatholic.org/ to learn more. This week’s focus is on the Life and Dignity of

the Human Person—The Church teaches that we are all created in the image and

likeness of God. Because of this fact, every human life is sacred. Every life is

worth living. There is nothing anyone can do to take this dignity away. All of our

Catholic social teaching flows from this principle. People are more important

than things.

they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close
