Oh, by the way…
As we come near to the close of the current diocesan appeal, Fruitful Harvest 2016 “Stewards of Christ…Sharing Our Gifts”, please remember if you have a current pledge balance that all gifts must be received and posted no later than 1 September 2018 in the Fruitful Harvest Office. In reviewing the list, there are a number who need to catch up!) The last redemption notice will be mailed in August 2018 for those parishes that have a 20 month redemption period. If you wish to make a gift electronically please visit the diocesan website at www.dol-in.org. Thank you for your continued stewardship and prayers to your parish and the Local Church.
The Frassati Society of Young Adult Catholics (or Frassati for short) is a fellowship of
young adults who desire to live a life of holiness, in imitation of Our Lord Jesus Christ, within
our modern era. Located in central Indiana as part of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Frassati is composed of men,
women, religious brothers and sisters, and priests.
We accomplish our dynamic ministry through
several, weekly-meeting cell groups: focused communities
of up to 16 members. Our society grows as each cell group
invites and welcomes new members, then divides once the
group begins to overflow—similar to our human cells. In this
way, the interconnected cells can live the New Evangelization as Pope
Benedict XVI defined it: “New evangelization must surrender to the mystery
of the grain of mustard seed and not be so pretentious as to believe to
immediately produce a large tree.”
Frassati members commit to imitating the life of Blessed Pier Giorgio
Frassati. Taking to heart his words, “The higher we go, the better we shall hear
the voice of Christ,” our ministry encourages prayer, study, and lively
engagement with others and with the Church. Through this, we find and
become the light of Christ.
If you are college-age, or in your 20s or 30s, we welcome you to join a
cell group and to attend Frassati Society events.

U.S. CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS RELEASES NEW EDITION OF ETHICAL AND RELIGIOUS DIRECTIVES FOR CATHOLIC HEALTH CARE SERVICES
WASHINGTON— The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is publishing the sixth edition of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, a revision that implements modifications regarding collaborating with non-Catholic partners.
The health care system in the United States is marked by both extraordinary challenges and
immense possibilities for good.
In these revised Directives, approved by majority vote during the USCCB Spring General
Assembly 2018, the bishops reaffirm the Church's commitment to Catholic health care ministry, in
faithful imitation of Jesus Christ, the Divine Physician. The Directives aim to reaffirm ethical standards
of behavior and provide authoritative guidance on moral issues that face health care today.
This new edition offers a helpful update of Part Six, "Collaborative Arrangements with Other
Health Care Organizations and Providers." This section offers background and guidelines for
collaborative arrangements between Catholic and non-Catholic health care institutions.
The Directives are especially relevant to institutionally based Catholic health care services,
and they are directly addressed to "sponsors, trustees, administrators, chaplains, physicians, health
care personnel, and patients or residents" of Catholic health care institutions. The Directives are also
useful as a teaching tool to give sound guidance to students and faculty at Catholic medical schools,
Catholic medical associations, Catholic hospitals and medical facilities, and to all pastors,
administrators, doctors, nurses, and staff involved in the health care ministry and related pastoral
care. CONTENTS:
