Oh, by the way,

We’re still waiting! Shortened again this year, we jump from the 4th Sunday of Advent, 23 December, to celebrating the Nativity of the Lord in two (2) days! There isn’t time to enjoy that full 4th week of Advent…not to mention the pressure this places on the Art & Environment people! Our liturgy schedule for the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord in our Cluster looks like this:

Eucharistic celebrations for the Nativity of the Lord

Sunday, 24 December Monday, 25 December 4:00 p.m. @ St. Peter (Vigil+^) 8:00 a.m. @ St. Francis (Dawn+)

6:00 p.m. @ St. Joseph (Vigil+^) 10:00 a.m. @ St. Peter (Day+^) ^Incense will be used during these liturgies.

+Liturgical Note: The Church stipulates four (4) distinct liturgies for the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord …depending on the chronological time of the day. Ever notice these in the song books?

Next week-end (29-30 December), the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, is a liturgical celebration in honor of Jesus of Nazareth, his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and his foster father, Saint Joseph, as a family.

How holy is your holy family?

As a ‘head’s-up for 31 December-1 January: The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, is a HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION! 1 January is celebrated in the Church not as

“new year’s day” (which, technically, is the First Sunday of Advent in the Church), but as the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. Its designation as a “solemnity” means that it is a very important feast. Please notice the times and places for the celebration of Mary, Mother of God.

Monday, 31 December Tuesday, 1 January

4:00 p.m. @ St. Peter 9:00 a.m. @ St. Joseph

LAST ANNOUCEMENT FOR

END OF THE YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS The Cluster Business Office is now closed till 2 January 2019.

With the new diocesan programs, all 2018 contributions MUST be in the Office by

30 December to be credited to your 2018 contributions.

From today till 2 January, please leave your messages on the answering machine.

Thank you.

With the quintessential celebration of the Nativity on the horizon, an old Swedish Proverb:

“Kart barn har manga namn” translates as: a beloved child has many names.

How many can you name?

I surfaced 26 names off the top of my head. Here’s for starters:

Jesus, Emmanuel. Christ, Lord, Master, Logos (the Word), Son of God, Son of Man, Bread of Life, Beloved Son, Bridegroom, Good Shepherd, High Priest, I AM, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Mediator, Our Peace, Redeemer, Prophet, The Door, The Way, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of

Peace. What names did I forget?

Interesting visual/thought:

This is a KING size bed!

Meanwhile, Maranatha….fr. K
