Dear CKS Parents, Alumni, Supporters and Friends, As the adage goes, “Rome was not built in a day.” Nor were our fine school OR tonight’s auction, both that have benefited from countless hours of labor and innumerable gifts of time, talent, and treasure. On behalf of the Christ the King Parish and School community, THANK YOU! Thank you for believing in the good work of CKS. Thank you for investing in her mission. Thank you for continuing to sustain her 76-year legacy of providing academic excellence and faith formation. Your support is humbling and the students, parents, parishioners, teachers, and staff who share your passion for learning and growing are inordinately blessed by your generosity. In your own transformative way, you are fulfilling the mission of Christ the King Catholic School. For all of this, from the very bottom of our grateful hearts, we do indeed thank you. Distinguished Graduates

Arne Johnsen attended Christ the King from preschool through the eighth grade. He loved science class with Mrs. Walker and English with Ms. Cecchini. After graduating from CKS, he attended Seattle Prep, where his favorite class was Anatomy and Physiology taught by CKS graduate Brian Meza. Arne developed a strong interest in athletic training and played soccer during his high school years. The next stop along his educational path was at the University of Portland’s School of Nursing. He graduated from college in 2008 and has worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital ever since. Arne works as a Charge Nurse on the Surgical Unit. His specialties include: orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, urology, cardiac surgery, and solid organ transplant. Arne finds his job very rewarding job and enjoys helping his patients return to being normal kids. As a Charge Nurse, he is responsible for many things, but his favorites are helping new nurses develop their critical thinking skills and teaching them how to prioritize important tasks. When Arne is not working, he loves trying new foods, traveling, reading, and playing video games. Erik Johnsen graduated from CKS in 2003 and then attended Seattle Prep, where he played soccer with his older brother, Arne Johnsen. During high school, he also enjoyed playing electric bass in a funk band called the D Street A’s. Erik attended California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo on a soccer scholarship. During his freshman year, he sustained a career-ending knee injury, which allowed him to focus solely on his academic pursuits. In 2012, Erik graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at the UW’s School of Pharmacy and plans to complete the program this year. Erik’s pharmaceutical areas of interest include diabetes management, chemical addition and recovery, and chronic disease management in marginalized populations. His non-work interests include a strong passion for record collecting, ethnomusicology, and contemporary comic books.
