LIVE Reviews publishing & STYLE GUIDE

Its important that we have consistency on the site, so whilst we like to give you free reign of what you

actually write when it comes to your reviews, we do require you to follow these basic formatting rules.

    DEADLINES

For most reviews, we would like to have them unloaded no later than 2 days after the event. We

will then publish your piece ASAP. Some events will be considered a priority or feature and we

will request a review the next day, however these shorter deadlines will be indicated in the regular

    email update you receive.

LengthWe want you to have fun with the reviews, but please try and keep all pieces between 400 - 500

words. Unless you have some incredible need to say more, theres no need to go on and on and on.

    Band Names

All band/artist names must be bolded the rst time they are used. This helps with search engine

optimisation. You only need to bold the names of those bands/artists who are relevant to the

    actual review.

To bold any text, simply put it between these codes:

    [b]TEXT[/b]

Dont leave any spaces between the brackets and the text, or it wont work.

    Album Titles

All album names must be italicised every time they are mentioned. Do not use in the title of the

    article however.

To italicise any text, simply put it between these codes:

    [i]TEXT[/i]

    Song Titles

All song titles must be put between single inverted commas every time they are mentioned, andthe rst letter of every word in the title must be capitalised.

For example: Born In The U.S.A

    Numbers

Numbers one to nine must be written as a word. Numbers 10 and above can be written as digits.

When referring to a decade, such as the Nineties, write it in numbers and with an apostrophe

    before the number (90s).

    Videos

Try and include a video at the end of every news piece, just to add a little something extra for the

reader (especially those who might not know anything about the artist in question).

You can use your own judgement when deciding exactly what to put up, but generally speaking,

when the article is about a tour, unless its a comeback, try and use a recent live video. When

talking about an album, try and get a recent music video or live recording footage if there is any.

At the moment, we can only use YouTube clips, so dont bother trying to embed a Vimeo or any

other format as it wont work (we will let you know once we sort this out).

To embed a video, simply put the YouTube URL between these codes:

    [video]http://www.youtubeURL.com[/video]

Again, no spaces between the brackets and text.

    NOTE:

    - please make sure you use the full URL including http:// at the start.

    - sometimes you will copy a YouTube URL and it will use https:// simply change this to http://

    and it will work.

Please put 2 line spaces above and 2 line spaces below the embedded video to space the article

    out nicely.

    EMBEDDING SOUNDCLOUD PLAYERS

You can embed Soundcloud players directly into any article.

Simply go to the Soundcloud page of what you want to embed and click the share button. There

will be a few options available, but select the Wordpress code that is provided. It will look some-

    thing like this:

    [soundcloud url=http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/70214896 params= width= 100%

    height=166 iframe=true /]

Simply copy/paste the code provided into the article and it will embed when published.

Please put 2 line spaces above and 2 line spaces below the player to space the article out nicely.

    EMBEDDING URLs Into your article

Use these rules to embed a URL:

    http://www.example.com.au/news/etcetc

    http://example.com.au/news/etcetc

    - Both of these URLs will embed directly (you need the full URL, http://etc for it to work)

    - They are shortened to display the rst 30 characters of the URL only also.

[URL=http://www.example.com.au]THIS IS THE TEXT WHICH IS LINKED[/URL]

[URL=http://example.com.au]THIS IS THE TEXT WHICH IS LINKED[/URL]

[URL=example.com.au]THIS IS THE TEXT WHICH IS LINKED[/URL]

    - All these URL codes above will work and the text between the [URL] tags will become live as

the links.- There is no need for http or www to be included for these links to work.
