Put your world back in focus

Your eyes are one of your most precious gifts.

They’re portals that help you navigate your world.

And windows that let beauty into your life.

Whether you have shortsightedness, farsightedness,

or astigmatism, vision disorders can impact your

quality of life.

With the iLASIK procedure, now powered by

iDesign technology, you may be able to put your

world back in focus and possibly have the vision

you always wanted without the hassle of glasses or

contact lenses.

Why choose the iLASIK procedure?

With the iLASIK procedure, each step of

your vision correction treatment is completely

personalized utilizing safe, advanced laser

technologies that help your doctor more precisely

measure the unique imperfections of each eye

and reshape your cornea, so you can experience

life’s moments in a clearer way.

What makes the iLASIK procedure unique?

Just like a fingerprint, each person’s vision is 100%

unique to their eyes. Some LASIK procedures

simply reshape the cornea based on a standard

prescription, which means that everyone receives

the same treatment.

The iLASIK procedure is an advanced, personalized

laser vision correction treatment that is guided by

iDesign technology.

iDesign technology uses a high-definition sensor

capturing over 1200 data points to more precisely

measure your unique vision imperfections in each

eye and deliver a truly personalized treatment.

Facts about the iLASIK procedure

• LASIK is the most common elective vision

procedure in the United States. More doctors

choose the iLASIK procedure for their patients1

• Thanks to clinical studies using iLASIK technologies,

NASA and the US military allow laser vision

correction for their astronauts, servicemen, and

servicewomen, including fighter pilots2

• 97% of iLASIK patients treated with iDesign

technology were very satisfied or satisfied with

their vision after treatment than before with the

use of glasses or contacts3

How the iLASIK procedure works

With the iLASIK procedure, each step of your

treatment is completely integrated and personalized,

utilizing advanced vision correction technology.

Step THREE: Delivering your personalized vision correction

Once the LASIK flap has been made and folded

back, the STAR S4 IR precise laser is used to gently

reshape the cornea based on your unique iDesign

measurements and correction information. Then,

your doctor will reposition the LASIK flap, and your

iLASIK procedure is complete.

2Step ONE: Creating your personalized vision profile

Because each of your eyes is as unique as your

fingerprint or DNA, your doctor needs an accurate

and detailed analysis of each eye. iDesign

technology creates a high-definition 3D visual

representation of each eye’s visual pathway by

comparing light passing through your eye to the

same light pattern of a perfect eye. Your doctor then

uses this information to help personalize each of

your eye’s vision correction treatment so you may

have clearer vision.4

Step TWO: Making the personalized flap

The iLASIK procedure uses an advanced process

called the IntraLase method, a 100% laser

approach, to create your personalized flap. The

IntraLase method uses tiny, precise pulses of laser

light to tailor and create the corneal flap customized

to your unique eye shape. The LASIK flap, a thin layer

of tissue, is then folded back in preparation to gently

reshape the cornea.

• Studies have shown that flaps created with the

IntraLase method have fewer complications and

greater stability than flaps created with a blade.

Patients may also experience fewer dry eye

symptoms and faster visual recovery5-7

iDesign technology:

• Measures the unique imperfections in your

eyes 25 times more accurately than standard

methods used for glasses or contacts

• Provides information on more than just the

corneal surface of your eye—it reveals the way

your entire eye processes light

• Utilizes the same technology used in high-

powered telescopes to reduce distortions when

viewing distant objects in space

Great results are possible

With the iLASIK procedure guided by iDesign

technology, most people experience vision that is

20/20 or better, and a majority are very satisfied or

satisfied with their vision after treatment than before

with glasses or lenses.

Clinical studies showed that 1 month after treatment3:

• 95% of all shortsighted patients could see 20/20

or better

• More than two thirds of patients achieved better

vision compared to their vision before with glasses

• 97% of all shortsighted patients were very satisfied

with their vision

Is the iLASIK procedure right for you?

The iLASIK procedure offers the most individualized

correction available, whether you are 25, 35, or

55. The majority of people who meet the age and

general health requirements and have a stable vision

prescription may qualify for the iLASIK procedure.

Talk to a certified iLASIK doctor to see if the

iLASIK procedure is right for you.

Chances are, several of your friends or family

members are experiencing the joys of living

without glasses and contact lenses as a result

of laser vision correction.

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) can

only be performed by a trained ophthalmologist

and for reduction or elimination of certain

refractive errors indicated in the product labeling.

Laser refractive surgery is contraindicated for

patients with collagen vascular, autoimmune, or

immunodeficiency diseases or abnormal corneal

topography; and pregnant or nursing women.

Potential side effects may include glare, dry eye, or

other visual anomalies. If a microkeratome is used

to cut a flap, additional complications may occur.

It’s time to start looking forward to the iLASIK procedure—now powered by iDesign technology.
